Anthony Pascale - TrekMovie.com

Tonight I had the honor to be invited to a special preview presentation of the opening 9-minute prologue from Star Trek Into Darkness which will be showing at IMAX 3D screenings of the Hobbit next weekend. A detailed play-by-play will be held until next weekend but I can report on comments from JJ Abrams, share my first impressions of seeing IMAX 3D Trek, and go into a bit of minor spoilers (at end of the article).

If you are a Star Trek nerd as I am, click through and read this right now! Sure does make me wish I was going to see The Hobbit in IMAX. Unfortunately, I’m going with a few…

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Sequel in Works, Mario to Appear

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Sequel in Works, Mario to Appear
Moviehole

According to Reilly, Silverman and director Rich Moore the sequel looks to be a go.

“You tell her ‘there will be [a sequel]“, says Silverman.

“They wouldn’t make [all that] merchandise, if [Disney] didn’t have plans for other [Wreck-it Ralph] stories”, adds Reilly.

“Some of the big muckety-muckets at the studio, who I just saw the other night, were like ‘We’re talking sequel!’”, Reilly reveals. “The movie made $150 million dollars in eleven days, it broke the box-office record for Disney animated movies on opening weekend. If that’s any indication that we’ll be doing a sequel… I bet…

‘Skyfall’ Takes the Box Office Again

‘Skyfall’ Takes the Box Office Again
Entertainment Weekly

In the box-office lull before the arrival The Hobbit next weekend, Skyfall returned to the number-one spot at the box office, becoming the first film since How to Train Your Dragon to lead the chart in its fifth week. It also became the highest grossing Sony release of all time. Not too shabby, Mr. Bond.

...

Even accounting for inflation, Skyfall is the fourth most successful Bond film domestically of all time, behind only the most beloved Sean Connery vehicles from the 1960s. Adjusting for inflation, Thunderball earned the equivalent of $593.9 million in 1965, Goldfinger garnered a…

‘Tron 3’ is on the Fast Track

‘Tron 3’ is on the Fast Track
FilmoFilia.com

Even though a sequel arrived 28 years after the first innovative sci-fi Tron film, Disney head honcho Alan Horn has put the next Tron project on the fast track.

I had a little bit to say about this yesterday, but the reason I’m linking this one today is because of this:

I think we will pick with where Tron: Legacy left off with Quorra in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It’s that relationship between the two of them that’s the next step.

This is what I was talking about yesterday when I said there was a lot of potential…

‘Tron 3’ is a Go

‘Tron 3’ is a Go
The Hollywood Reporter

The sequel to the 2010 reboot Tron: Legacy —called Tron 3 in some quarters—is moving a step forward with Disney in negotiations to hire Jesse Wigutow to pen the latest draft of the script.

Joseph Kosinski, who directed Legacy, is attached to helm this installment, which is being developed with a renewed purpose under Alan Horn, who took the reins of Disney Studios in June.

Some considered the dark and trippy Legacy —which teamed newcomer Garrett Hedlund with Jeff Bridges, star of the 1982 original Tron —a lukewarm performer when it opened in December 2010. But the film grossed $400…

David Ellison Joins New ‘Terminator’

David Ellison Joins New ‘Terminator’
Deadline

Nearly 18 months after Megan Ellison pledged over $20 million for the rights to finish The Terminator‘s humanity vs the Skynet cyborgs storyline with a new series of films, she has finally closed the complicated rights deal with Pacificorp. Other than the fact no progress has been made all this time on a script, the surprise here is Ellison has enlisted her brother, David Ellison, to be her financial and creative partner. There is still no studio attached, but futureTerminator films will be done as a co-production between her Annapurna Pictures and his Skydance Productions. The Ellisons…

The Man of Steel in Cuffs?

The Man of Steel in Cuffs?
HeyUGuys

The first teaser trailers hit back in the summer, and were nothing short of immense. And with the full-length trailer expected to be attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, we’ve now got a brilliant new poster for the epic blockbuster.

With two trailers that I’m really looking forward to — this being one of them — debuting in front of The Hobbit, and of course the attraction of The Hobbit itself, I’m sorely tempted to do the midnight premier thing (won’t that be a zoo?).

Anyway, what’s with these crazy cuffs? Who puts the Man of Steel in cuffs? Can’t he just snap them. What on…

Star Trek Into Darkness Poster

Star Trek Into Darkness Poster
TrekMovie.com

Still months away from its debut, and we’re learning more and more about Star Trek Into Darkness. Last week, Paramount released the official synopsis for the film, and now we have the first official teaser poster as well. Although we’ve been told that Into Darkness won’t be a rehash of The Dark Knight, the influence of the dark Batman franchise seems strong in the new poster.

Batman influence? Seriously? This is more than influence, this is a rip-off and it’s really annoying to me. What is happening to my beloved Star Trek franchise?

Wreckage creating the outline of the Starfleet…
