‘Fringe’ Finale Gets a Title

‘Fringe’ Finale Gets a Title
Matt Webb Mitovich - TV Line

The cast and producers of Fox’s Fringe gathered at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver on Saturday night to celebrate the Warner Bros. TV series’ 100th — and final — episode. And now we have a title for that ultimate hour.

“It is called ‘An Enemy of Fate,’” series boss J.H. Wyman shared with TVLine on the red carpet.

...

“It’s definitely the biggest season finale we’ve ever had,” Wyman promised. “It’s the most expensive…. It’s massive, really big. I wanted to go out like, ‘Wow, how did they do that?’”

Fringe begins it’s final run on December 7. This gives me a mixture of…

‘Flight of the Navigator’ To Get Remake

‘Flight of the Navigator’ To Get Remake
FilmoFilia.com

Remember the name Colin Trevorrow? We reported a while ago about him being the possible Star Wars: Episode VII helmer and now, after weeks and weeks of rumors, news is now out that he is not taking on Star Wars, but is instead taking on another beloved-nostalgic cinema classic – Flight of the Navigator.

According to Variety, director Colin Trevorrow and screenwriter Derek Connolly, who worked together on this year’s indie Safety Not Guaranteed, have been hired by Disney to (at least) co-rewrite the script for one of my personal childhood favorites.

Well that was one film I didn’t need…

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Batman - To Be, or Not to Be?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Batman - To Be, or Not to Be?

Yesterday, I posted a link to the story on HitFix.com that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may be picking up the mantle of Batman for Justice League, and possibly have a cameo in Man of Steel. Personally, though I didn’t say it, I thought that with Nolan involved in Man of Steel, and the fact that he considers Batman all wrapped up, it seems unlikely the cameo in Man of Steel, has any truth to it. But the Justice League thing seemed a possibility.

Well now the movie related Internet is abuzz with news that Gordon-Levitt’s reps have refuted this rumor entirely. Hollywood.com reports:

On Tuesday,…

After lots of speculation, rumors, declines and debunks, Star Wars: Episode VII appears to have finally gotten a director! What happened is, Jason Flemyng confirmed Matthew Vaughn’s involvement in the project while on the red carpet for Seven Psychopaths.

...

“Me and Matt have done nine films together, so I’m sure I’ll get the call for Star Wars.”

...

On a follow-up question – if Vaughn is interested – Flemyng looks shocked when he realises the journalists don’t know about Vaughn’s involvement…

Oopsie. Well that get’s pretty close to settling it. I thought it sounded pretty…

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Make Appearance as Batman?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Make Appearance as Batman?
HitFix

According to sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in “Justice League” as the new Batman.

Now here’s where things get interesting.  The more insistent the drumbeat has become, the more poking around I’ve been doing, and it’s looking like we may see Gordon-Levitt in the suit earlier than that.  They’re a long way from filming anything “Justice League” related, but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do… something.

So let’s take what we know and speculate a little bit.  How…

Blockbuster is in the Magazine Business

Blockbuster is in the Magazine Business

When was the last time you heard anything positive about Blockbuster Video? Last we (the general public) heard, their business was floundering, as physical stores were shuttered and customers were moving to Netflix.

Well, Blockbuster isn’t giving up without a fight. The latest development is their iOS based Newstand magazine. Here’s Mike Schramm’s thoughts over at TUAW:

They must be pretty far down the idea list over at Blockbuster Video, because this one suddenly appeared out of left field. The video rental chain has released, of all things, an iPad-based digital…

Thanksgiving Box Office

Thanksgiving Box Office
Film.com

There were no turkeys at this year’s Thanksgiving box office, as movie goers stuffed the box office like never before, leading to the highest five-day gross in the history of cinema with an estimated $288 million taken in.

Of course, there were also no real surprises either, with holdovers hanging on to the top three spots. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ led the charge with an estimated $64 million over the five-day extended weekend, followed once again by “Skyfall” in second place ($51 million) and “Lincoln” in third ($34.1 million).

I went to the theater this past…

‘Man of Steel’ Trailer Coming With ‘The Hobbit’

‘Man of Steel’ Trailer Coming With ‘The Hobbit’
Entertainment Weekly

Director Zack Snyder told MTV News on Tuesday that the first full trailer for his Superman movie Man of Steel (out June 14, 2013) will unspool before Peter Jackson’s return to Middle Earth. “I can’t wait for The Hobbit,” said Snyder, “so it will be fun to see our crazy Man of Steel trailer and then enjoy The Hobbit because that’s going to be great.”

Awesome! Can’t wait to see it. The Hobbit is going to have plenty to draw me into the theater at this point, despite my disgruntledness with the whole frame rate issue. The Star Trek trailer, and now the Man of Steel trailer is enough to…
