Henry Cavill as Superman (Photo)

Henry Cavill as Superman (Photo)

Alright, so it’s a morning of images. This is yet another image I find interesting. It gives us a look at Henry Cavill as our favorite, red-caped super hero in what looks like a bit more candid shot from the film and not a posed shot.

I’m still looking forward to seeing Amy Adams as Lois Lane myself. I’ve loved Amy Adams in pretty much anything she’s been in and I’m hoping she’ll just blow this role away. Though I love the first Superman film staring Christopher Reeve, and to a lesser extent the second (don’t even speak to me about 3 and 4), I was never a big fan of Margot Kidder as Lois…

Les Misérables (2012) — Review

4 of 5 stars

For a film such as this, I felt it necessary to bring in a female perspective. While I enjoyed this film for what it was, I felt inadequate to really talk about and review this film. My wife, being a lover of classical literature, stage plays, and such like things, seemed like a good fit to review this film.

Enjoy.

Les Misérables (2012)

When I first found out that Les Miserables The Musical was coming to the big screen, I was overcome with excitement. Ever since I saw the musical on stage around 12 years ago I have absolutely loved it. It has definitely been the best adaptation of the book that I have seen. Already being familiar with the musical, I was greatly anticipating the movie as I felt they would do it justice. And I must say that it lived up to my expectations. I greatly enjoyed it and felt that it both was true to the book by Victor Hugo and the stage musical.

Because this is a movie version of a musical, this…

Dying Fan Gets Private Screening of ‘Star Trek’

Dying Fan Gets Private Screening of ‘Star Trek’
NextMovie

For most fans, of course, the delay has been just a minor irritant. But for one fan named Dan, it was something more, as Dan has been diagnosed with a non-treatable form of cancer. On Christmas Day, his friends and family took to the internet, posting his story on Reddit, with one plea: Help get Dan an advance screening of “Star Trek Into Darkness.”

And for director J.J. Abrams, that was one request he couldn’t deny.

“It was truly amazing that a filmmaker so secretive as J.J. Abrams was kind enough to show this to us,” Dan’s wife posted a few days ago. “It is also so wonderful for his…

‘Mega Spider’ - Sigh

‘Mega Spider’ - Sigh
FilmoFilia.com

Written by Gregory GierasMega Spider will tell us the story of a 50 foot tall alien spider who escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles.

But you have nothing to be afraid about – there’s also a great team of scientists, soldiers, and even one clever exterminator who will (just a wild guess) kill that **** thing before the city is destroyed.

Sometimes it is necessary to link to something just because of the sheer stupidity of the thing. I have been unable to find out when this “film” will be released. IMDb lists the date as 2012 but I can’t find much beyond…

TJ’s Movie Picks of 2012

TJ’s Movie Picks of 2012

Happy New Year! It seems to be a bit of a slow news morning. Maybe some more news and links will show up later today, but since I have to drive ten hours back home from visiting relatives today, I’m going to be unavailable if stuff turns up. And Joseph, well he’s still out partying up the new year or something so it’s up to me to give you guys something.

I thought it would be fun to round up my top ten films from 2012. Though in my various reviews perhaps I may have rated one or two films more highly than what I list here, I think these are the films worthy of mentioning for 2012. I hope…

Promised Land
There is something interesting about this film. I love a good drama, although I am concerned about what propaganda may be in this film. But I will certainly give it a chance. I’m not sure when I personally will get to see it, but you can be sure I will.

Ebert Names ‘Argo’ Best Film of 2012

Ebert Names ‘Argo’ Best Film of 2012
Roger Ebert’s Journal

The good news is that I’ve seen the films of one of the best recent years in cinema. I wrote more than 300 reviews in 2012—a record—and it was unusually difficult to leave out many of the quote-unquote “best” films in 11th place.

Here are the Best Films I saw in 2012:

1. • “Argo”

Though not my personal top film, it is well deserved. Argo is a fine film and I have no problem with it being names the top film of 2012.

Of course as usual, some of the films on this list I either haven’t heard of, or didn’t feel like it deserved the time of day. But that’s Ebert for you.

‘Warm Bodies’ - First Four Minutes

‘Warm Bodies’ - First Four Minutes

Well, it looks like this movie is on it’s way to the box office, despite my better judgement. I expect this film to be really horrible, but they are certainly pushing it. I’ve seen the trailer in front of several movies this year, and now they’ve released the first four minutes and I have it here for you in case you need a morning dose of stupid.

Abrams Turned Down ‘Star Wars VII’

Abrams Turned Down ‘Star Wars VII’
TrekMovie.com

Half (2 out of 4) of JJ Abrams feature filmography as a director is dedicated to Star Trek, however he has admitted that when he was a kid, Star Wars was ‘more his thing.’ Even so, last month we reported that Abrams said he was not interested in helming the upcoming “Episode VII” Star Wars film (due out in 2015). Now, in a sidebar in the new issue of Empire Magazine, Abrams reveals more about how he was approached by Disney, and why he said ‘no’…

“There were the very early conversations and I quickly said that because of my loyalty to Star Trek, and also just being a fan, I wouldn’t…

‘Cars’ Spin-Off ‘Planes’ To Have Theatrical Release

‘Cars’ Spin-Off ‘Planes’ To Have Theatrical Release
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

Well this is somewhat surprising: “Planes,” the direct-to-video spin-off of Disney/Pixar’s “Cars” films, is now getting a wide theatrical release next summer. It will hit theaters on August 9th, alongside Neill Blomkamp’s Matt Damon-led sci-fi extravaganza “Elysium” and “We’re the Millers,” a comedy starring Jason Sudeikis andJennifer Aniston that is being directed by “Dodgeball” helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber. “Planes” was originally supposed to debut on home video in the fall (a European theatrical release was always planned). The movie is either really, really good or must be tracking…
