A ‘Naked Gun’ Reboot? No NO NO!!!

A ‘Naked Gun’ Reboot? No NO NO!!!
Stuart Heritage - The Guardian

So there’s a chance that David Zucker doesn’t really want to reboot the Naked Gun franchise. There’s a chance that he looked at his new film Scary Movie 5 – with its opportunistic stunt casting and soul-draining pastiches of trailers he saw halfway through production – realised that it was a pale imitation of his best work and just decided to invoke the name of The Naked Gun to scare up a few headlines.

But invoke it he did. Talking to Hollywood.com this week, Zucker said: “You could do another Naked Gun, with a reboot. Like Star Trek … I think Paramount has an international brand in…

Ewan McGregor/Obi-Wan Standalone Film?

Ewan McGregor/Obi-Wan Standalone Film?
Movieline.com

Now that Ewan McGregor has voiced his enthusiasm for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi again, Disney should make it so. The actor, who’s out promoting Jack The Giant Slayer told MTV News that he thought reprising his role as the Jedi Master was “a good idea” and had clearly done some thinking about where an Obi-Wan standalone movie could fit into the about-to-be-rebooted Star Wars franchise

Call me cray cray, but I would actually go see this film. One of the (very few) redeeming qualities of the Star Wars prequels was Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. He was a true beacon of light in a very, very dark…

Did EW Confirm Kahn as ‘Into Darkness’ Villain? (hint: no)

Did EW Confirm Kahn as ‘Into Darkness’ Villain? (hint: no)
TrekMovie.com

As we reported earlier there are two collectible covers for the new issue of Star Trek Into Darkness. If you go online to the ew.com site to buy the one with Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch, the cover title appears to confirm the true secret identity of Cumberbatch’s character (John Harrison). See image below…

Being that the cover story includes exclusive new images and on the record comments from JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and many of the actors from the movie is this actual “Khanfirmation.” Actally, no.

Here is what is said about Khan in the actual EW cover story…

‘Independence Day 2’ Rumor

‘Independence Day 2’ Rumor
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

We’re nine days into 2013, so might as well put in the annual “Independence Day” sequel rumors. For the past few years, a followup to the blockbuster July 4th hit has been talked about, without anything concrete ever actually happening. Roland Emmerich has long said he would be game, but the sticking point seems to be Will Smith, who Fox apparently wants to sign off on everything before shooting begins, so that the production fiasco that accompanied “Men In Black 3” doesn’t replicate here. But what if Big Willie doesn’t want to do it? No problem.

Crave recently caught up with Bill…

Christopher Nolan on Batman ‘Man of Steel’ Cameo

Christopher Nolan on Batman ‘Man of Steel’ Cameo
Movie Line

Among the filmmakers who turned up to praise the Les Misérables star at the Museum of the Moving Image’s salute to Jackman in lower Manhattan on Tuesday night was The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan who grew an enormous Cheshire-Cat grin when I asked him if the Superman reboot he is producing, Man of Steel, would see a cameo by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or any actor, as Batman, and if he had any objections to a cameo as a continuity move to tie the Supes movie to the 2015 Justice League movie.

“I can’t talk about that.  You know that,” Nolan said cheerily. I didn’t know that,…

Matthew Vaughn Sort of Confirmed for ‘Star Wars VII’

Matthew Vaughn Sort of Confirmed for ‘Star Wars VII’
FilmoFilia.com

After lots of speculation, rumors, declines and debunks, Star Wars: Episode VII appears to have finally gotten a director! What happened is, Jason Flemyng confirmed Matthew Vaughn’s involvement in the project while on the red carpet for Seven Psychopaths.

...

“Me and Matt have done nine films together, so I’m sure I’ll get the call for Star Wars.”

...

On a follow-up question – if Vaughn is interested – Flemyng looks shocked when he realises the journalists don’t know about Vaughn’s involvement…

Oopsie. Well that get’s pretty close to settling it. I thought it sounded pretty…

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Make Appearance as Batman?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Make Appearance as Batman?
HitFix

According to sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in “Justice League” as the new Batman.

Now here’s where things get interesting.  The more insistent the drumbeat has become, the more poking around I’ve been doing, and it’s looking like we may see Gordon-Levitt in the suit earlier than that.  They’re a long way from filming anything “Justice League” related, but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do… something.

So let’s take what we know and speculate a little bit.  How…

RUMOR: Mathew Vaughn To Direct Star Wars VII?

RUMOR: Mathew Vaughn To Direct Star Wars VII?
Collider.com

Now that I’ve warned you this is just a “rumor”….

I’m hearing that Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kick-AssStardustLayer Cake, and X-Men: First Class, is in talks with Lucasfilm to helm Star Wars: Episode VII.  My sources tell me this is the main reason he dropped out of the X-Men sequel (which Bryan Singer is now directing).

Interesting. It would seem to explain why he suddenly dropped out of the upcoming X-Men film. I liked Stardust a lot, X-men: First Class less, but it was okay. So this could definitely be interesting.

‘Ghostbusters 3’ Scheduled for Summer 2013?

‘Ghostbusters 3’ Scheduled for Summer 2013?
/Film

Could Ghostbusters 3 really, finally, at long last, be getting into gear? The long-awaited horror prequel was put in “suspended animation” earlier this year, but since this project never stays dead for long, it soon picked up a new writer to pen a fresh script. Now it looks like director Ivan Reitman, star Dan Aykroyd, and the studio are preparing to shoot next summer.

Hmm. I’m not convinced that the world needs more Ghostbusters but apparently studios and producers disagree with me. The world is a stupid place sometimes.

A ‘Roger Rabbit’ Sequel

A ‘Roger Rabbit’ Sequel
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

A mooted sequel has been kicked around Hollywood for the better part of two decades (read more about that here). And while traction on the sequel has been tortoise-like for 20 years, fans wondered recently whether the project might get deep-sixed now that lead actor Bob Hoskins has retired from acting. The good news for the devoted is that it appears ‘Roger Rabbit’ can live on without Hoskins.

Hmm. I’m not sure this film merits a sequel.
