‘Mega Spider’ - Sigh

‘Mega Spider’ - Sigh
FilmoFilia.com

Written by Gregory GierasMega Spider will tell us the story of a 50 foot tall alien spider who escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles.

But you have nothing to be afraid about – there’s also a great team of scientists, soldiers, and even one clever exterminator who will (just a wild guess) kill that **** thing before the city is destroyed.

Sometimes it is necessary to link to something just because of the sheer stupidity of the thing. I have been unable to find out when this “film” will be released. IMDb lists the date as 2012 but I can’t find much beyond…

The Man of Steel in Cuffs?

The Man of Steel in Cuffs?
HeyUGuys

The first teaser trailers hit back in the summer, and were nothing short of immense. And with the full-length trailer expected to be attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, we’ve now got a brilliant new poster for the epic blockbuster.

With two trailers that I’m really looking forward to — this being one of them — debuting in front of The Hobbit, and of course the attraction of The Hobbit itself, I’m sorely tempted to do the midnight premier thing (won’t that be a zoo?).

Anyway, what’s with these crazy cuffs? Who puts the Man of Steel in cuffs? Can’t he just snap them. What on…

‘Revenge of the Sith’ as Great Work of Art

‘Revenge of the Sith’ as Great Work of Art
Bleeding Cool

Yes, the long finale of Revenge of the Sith has more inherent artistic value, emotional power, and global impact than anything by the artists you name. It’s because the art world has flat-lined and become an echo chamber of received opinion and toxic over-praise. It’s like the emperor’s new clothes—people are too intimidated to admit what they secretly think or what they might think with their blinders off.

Uh, what?!?

Lucas called this fierce fight [at the climax of Sith] between Anakin Skywalker and his Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi “the turning point of the whole series.” Fire…

‘Flight of the Navigator’ To Get Remake

‘Flight of the Navigator’ To Get Remake
FilmoFilia.com

Remember the name Colin Trevorrow? We reported a while ago about him being the possible Star Wars: Episode VII helmer and now, after weeks and weeks of rumors, news is now out that he is not taking on Star Wars, but is instead taking on another beloved-nostalgic cinema classic – Flight of the Navigator.

According to Variety, director Colin Trevorrow and screenwriter Derek Connolly, who worked together on this year’s indie Safety Not Guaranteed, have been hired by Disney to (at least) co-rewrite the script for one of my personal childhood favorites.

Well that was one film I didn’t need…

‘Ninja Turtles’ are Like ‘The Avengers’ (yeah, right)

‘Ninja Turtles’ are Like ‘The Avengers’ (yeah, right)
/Film

We won’t actually see the Michael Bay-produced Ninja Turtles until 2014 or so, but in the meantime Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman is keeping the hype machine rolling by naming all sorts of other movies that Ninja Turtles will be like. Among the titles he’s previously name-checked are The Raid: RedemptionFist of Legend, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Now he’s also likening Ninja Turtles to The Avengers, in terms of “scope and roots origin.” Lord knows there’s a world of difference between emulating The Avengers and actually being as good as The Avengers, but…

Corey Kinda Likes ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

Corey Kinda Likes ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’
Reel Quick

Before you scoff, I have a confession to make: this is a surprisingly enjoyable film. Not great, or even very good, but lots of fun all the same. Walker does an excellent job as the axe-weilding Abe, and director Bekmambetov knows how to stage crazy, visually-arresting freeform action sequences like nobody’s business.

I think it probable that Corey has lost his mind. But, I suppose I’ll have to give this film a viewing sooner or later. Bleh.

‘So Undercover’ - No Shortage of Stupid Miley Cyrus Movies

‘So Undercover’ - No Shortage of Stupid Miley Cyrus Movies

Just found this. It’s been on YouTube for over a month but it’s comical how bad it looks. I mean, let’s see, bad plot? Check. Bad actress? Check. Lots of cheese? CHECK!

Does this look like a Miss Congeniality rip-off to anyone else? Well it does to me, and it looks like bad one to top it off.

But I suppose this will appeal to the teenage girl demographic — there’s certainly no lack for comments from what appears to be teenage girls on this trailer’s YouTube page. Such as:

I love how she says “I’m so Undercover” -33 Love you Mileyyy !!

Or:

OMG soooooooooo cooool…

Nikki Reed Gets Hate Mail On Her Character’s Behalf

Nikki Reed Gets Hate Mail On Her Character’s Behalf
Movie Line

After spending four years and five movies playing Bella Swan’s vampire sister-in-law Rosalie Hale in the Twilight series, Nikki Reed understandably has a bittersweet perspective on the billion-dollar franchise coming to a close in this week’s Breaking Dawn Part 2. On the one hand, she won’t miss the hate mail from fans who have taken her character’s onscreen iciness to Kristen Stewart‘s heroine to heart for four films.

Wait, stop right there! What? Are there really people that stupid that send Nikki Reed hate mail for the way her character, Rosalie, treats Kristen Stewart’s character,…

Darth Vader to Rise from the Ashes?

Darth Vader to Rise from the Ashes?
Express.co.uk

Following news that Disney has bought the rights to the lucrative sci-fi franchise and plans to make at least three more movies, industry insiders say the evil Vader will grace the big screen again.

“He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible,” explains a film mole.

“The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films.”

Well, I made it all the way to Tuesday without posting Star Wars news…

Also, keep in mind this is a notoriously unreliable British Tabloid. The only reason I’m linking it is to voice my opinion on this…

‘Lego’ Casts Liam Neeson

‘Lego’ Casts Liam Neeson
FilmoFilia.com

Alison Brie, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Nick Offerman have joined the previously announced Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pratt and Morgan Freeman to the Warner Bros and Village Roadshow’s Lego feature 3D film, Lego: Piece of Resistance.

Pratt is voice-starring as Emmet, a regular Lego mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the key to saving the world, the mythical Master Builer. He’s drafted into a quest to stop an evil tyrant – but he’s not ready.

Wait, Wait, WAIT! Is this a thing? Is there *really* a LEGO movie being made?
