‘Arrested Development’ Green Screened Together

‘Arrested Development’ Green Screened Together
Angie Han - /Film

So far we’ve had plenty of reasons to look forward to seeing the Bluths get back together for Season 4 of Arrested Development. But now it turns out that the long-awaited reunion wasn’t actually much of a reunion at all.

Due to scheduling issues, Mitch Hurwitz admits, some scenes featuring multiple characters were actually shot at totally different times, with the actors’ performances edited together in post-production. The entire cast was only on set together for a total of two days. We won’t know until the new episodes hit this weekend how that method actually worked out for them, but…

Netflix’s “Unorganizable” Queue

Netflix’s “Unorganizable” Queue
Sam Adams - Slate

Complicating matters further, Netflix is currently testing a variety of new interfaces, rolling out variations on its iconic queue to small groups of users. Instead of a customizable queue, some—like me—now see a “list” which can only be sorted according to a handful of options. See the screenshot below, and don’t judge me.

What on earth?

Honestly, if I can’t organize the items in my queue, I’d probably leave Netflix. This is just stupid.

Steven Spielberg’s ‘Obama’

Steven Spielberg’s ‘Obama’

What. On. Earth?!?

I think this is supposed to be funny or something but I never did laugh. Still it seemed worth posting because everyone seems to be going on and on about it.

From what I understand this was played up as a spoof during a White House Correspondents dinner. What kills me is that the President had to take the time to film this thing for this spoof. It’s really weird.

Filming details have surfaced for Fox’s 2015 big-screen reboot of Marvel’s First Family, The Fantastic Four, revealing the production’s working title and principal photography’s surprising start date.

As reported by Production Weekly via Twitter, the reboot based on Marvel’s First Family and directed by Josh Trank will start shooting under the working title Henry Street, as soon as June 17th!

Uhh, what?!? That franchise just got started, now they’re rebooting it. What on earth? Can someone please explain what is going on with this phenomenon? I don’t get it. Why did we need a reboot…

Sucking the Life Out of ‘Oblivion’

The following may be considered offensive and contains some things that you might call spoilers.
We leave it up to your personal discretion to decide whether an article is appropriate for your reading.

Sucking the Life Out of ‘Oblivion’

This morning I read one of those movie reviews that gives me an upset stomach; a review so pathetically ridiculous that it warrants criticism for its misleading tropes and arrogant close-mindedness.

Ignatiy Vishnevetsky at RogerEbert.com:

If nothing else, “Oblivion” will go down in film history as the movie where Tom Cruise pilots a white, sperm-shaped craft into a giant space uterus. The scene is more interesting to describe than it is to watch. Cruise’s sperm-ship enters through an airlock that resembles a geometrized vulva. He arrives inside a massive chamber lined with egg-like…

Peggy Carter Short Film Featuring Haley Atwell?

Peggy Carter Short Film Featuring Haley Atwell?
The Age

“There’s been an online campaign for Peggy to be featured. People really liked her. So Marvel have made sure that as part of Comicon there will be a little kind of snapshot as to what Peggy’s actually really capable of, which was finished here and which was great fun. Hopefully, it will lead to other things.”

Be it a movie or television series spin-off, Atwell would love a chance to play Peggy once more and to flesh out her character.

I think we’d all like to see more of Peggy Carter. Though not the star of Captain America she was one of the shining bright lights of the story. But I…

Stanley Tucci Joins ‘Transformers 4’

Stanley Tucci Joins ‘Transformers 4’
Nick Martin - FilmoFilia

Director Michael Bay delivered a few pieces of news last night at CinemaCon, revealing that he’ll shoot the big showcase scenes in Transformers 4 with the new IMAX 3D digital camera and that Stanley Tucci will join the cast.

Bay was reportedly very excited to have Company You Keep star Tucci onboard the movie, which will star Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz, as well as another mysterious young actor that Bay teased will be announced very shortly.

At this time, nothing has been revealed about Tucci’s character.

Why? Why, oh why, oh why would such a fine actor join the…

Marvel Phase Two Reveals Super Raccoon and Ant-Man

Marvel Phase Two Reveals Super Raccoon and Ant-Man
MovieWeb

If you aren’t in the loop, here is where you can catch up on all the upcoming Marvel movies. “Phase Two” as the studio is calling it, continues the adventures of the quintessential Avengers and introduces new super-heroes to cinemas, like Ant-man, and this suspicious-looking, gun-carrying raccoon. If my guess is right, the animal is a character in Guardians of the Galaxy, and I haven’t the faintest idea what that story is about besides what it implies.

Ant-Man comes to theaters November 6th, 2015. The film is directed by Edgar Wright.

Iron Man 3 comes to theaters May 3rd, 2013 and…

Trailer Baits and Switches

Trailer Baits and Switches
NextMovie

Do you recall that one scene in Return of the Jedi when Luke and the gang rush to board the Millennium Falcon to get out of the sandstorm? Yeah, me neither. But you may have seen a glimpse of this scene in an original trailer for the film! There are many such things in movies that are nixed from the final cut that appear in movie trailers.

Sometimes a trailer just plain old doesn’t have the scene in question, and The Telegraph reports that this led a customer known only as “J Congdon” to post a complaint to New Zealand’s Advertising Standards Authority in regards to one split-second…
