Hey look! It’s kind of like Over the Hedge, but without all the good acting talent or good story behind it. And seriously, what’s with showing the same shot of the squirrel planning the heist like five times? Is this a major selling point of the film? Is there just nothing else to show? Couple a very mediocre trailer with the fact that this film comes out on January 17^th of the upcoming new year and I think we can fairly safely assume that this is going to be a fail.

This looks mildly entertaining. I have not seen Rio, so I suppose I should probably rectify that. Rio was apparently based on the idea that Blu and Jewel were the only two blue macaws left in the world — or so they thought. So they must meet and mate or their species would die.

As it turns out, they weren’t the only ones left. There’s a whole flock of blue macaws out there, including Jewel’s data Eduardo. Hilarity, apparently, ensues.

This week we got our mid-season cliff-hanger for Agents of SHIELD, and it looks like when the show returns, we are finally going to get some answers on what happened to Coulson between his “death” in The Avengers, and his weekly appearance in Agents of SHIELD. But don’t take my phrasing for complaining, I’m actually happy with the suspense and the hints that have continually been dropped about what’s been going on with Coulson. Hey look, it’s another Tom Cruise actiony, sci-fi-ish film. I kid, but in all seriousness, it looks like my kind of film. And let’s do the math here. Jack Reacher: decent. Oblivion: great! Mission Impossible series: All varying degrees of good. Minority Report: Aweome! Well, the day is upon us, the day I once again rail on the rebooted Spider-Man franchise. Doggoneit! Why couldn’t they just let this one rest for a little bit? I hated the first installment in this reboot universe so much it’s impossible for me to put it into words. But, many people apparently liked it so a second one is coming to screens. I cannot tell you just how wrong Andrew Garfield seems for this part. I know Toby Maguire takes a lot of flack, but he seemed like the perfect Peter Parker to me. I don’t hate Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, but that doesn’t make up for anything.

Despite my lack of love for the first installment in The Hobbit story, I’m still looking forward to this quite a bit. And we don’t have long to wait now, just a few days really.

The film opens on December 13th. I have no doubt that it will be long and bloated but I’ll try to enjoy it anyway. To whet our appetites, here are 4 clips from the upcoming film.

I have never seen a single episode of the TV show but a lot of people sure loved it. And I loved that they went and got crowd funding to put more of something people apparently loved on the screen. While I don’t know anything about the show I can appreciate that. And I can also appreciate that there’s definitely some sarcastic humor going on in this clip — almost (but maybe not quite) of the Joss Whedon sort.
