‘47 Ronin’ Japanese Trailer

‘47 Ronin’ Japanese Trailer

I’ve got to be honest, I still have no idea what this film is really about. I barely have a high level overview of what it might be about, but it does look intriguing. And why not, I mean, the Japanese have been dominating the cinema this year. Mako Mori was a primary character in a pretty big film this year — Pacific Rim — and she was Japanese. And of course there’s The Woverine, featuring Japanese actors and Japanese culture very heavily. So, now we have 47 Ronin which will have quite a bit of Japanese themes in it, and we have here a Japanese version of the trailer.

It’s been a while…

Riddick Saves a Puppy? - Clip From the Upcoming Film

Riddick Saves a Puppy? - Clip From the Upcoming Film

I’m not sure this is the clip I would be putting out there for my big rough and tumble action film, but hey, I’m not a marketing genius, I just like to make cool things and talk about movies.

In this clip, Riddick is battling an extremely dangerous and ugly looking lethal alien monster, but near the end, he’s got time to save some strange looking alien puppy apparently.

The film opens on September the 6th.

‘Man of Steel 2’ Fan Made Trailer Is Really Good!

‘Man of Steel 2’ Fan Made Trailer Is Really Good!

The internet nearly exploded when it was announced that Ben Affleck was going to be taking over the dark suite, cape, and cowl. And it looks like the negativity certainly outweighed the positive feelings out there. And I have to say I’m not seeing it myself but I am perhaps somewhat willing to give it a chance.

Now we have a fan made trailer showing us the possibilities and all I can say is “wow!” No really, it’s really good. This actually makes me want to see the film, and I really did not like Man of Steel. Now granted, we don’t really get to see Affleck playing Batman of course, but this…

‘Captain Phillips’ International Trailer

‘Captain Phillips’ International Trailer

What do you think of these days when you hear the word “piracy”? More than likely you think of some geek in his mom’s basement illegally downloading movies, TV shows, games, and whatnot. However, in Captain Phillips, the word pirate reverts back to its older and more chilling meaning. In 2009, Somali pirates captured the Mv Maersk Alabama. And now Paul Greengrass has set out to tell the tale.

For me at least, there’s alwasys something compelling about a good drama based on a true story, and that appears to be what we have here. I’m very much looking forward to this film.

This is an…

‘Divergent’ Trailer

‘Divergent’ Trailer

Hey look, it’s another YA movie adaption trailer that TJ likes RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

No seriously, my track record here is terrible. That being said, this looks like perhaps it falls more on The Hunger Games side of things rather than the Mortal Instruments side of things. And yes, I really do like the look of this trailer, just like I liked the look of The Mortal Instruments trailer. I still contend that The Mortal Instruments would have been good if it had delivered on what the trailer promised. The same goes for this film. I like this trailer, I hope that the film it represents is a good…

‘Thor: The Dark World’ Featurette

‘Thor: The Dark World’ Featurette

Right now, Marvel has the world’s attention — certainly, they have my attention as they are producing some of the best cinematic entertainment right now. Maybe to some this comes as a surprise that a comic book company and comic book stories could make such good cinema. I’m not surprised per se, although I am surprised that I myself am into it so much. I don’t really like comic books all that much, but the stories here are adapting themselves very well to the big screen.

I also have to say that Thor 2 looks like it will be far better than Thor was. Thor may have been my least favoriate of…

New ‘SHIELD’ Trailer - “The New World”

New ‘SHIELD’ Trailer - “The New World”

We’ve got a new SHIELD trailer here, and it’s looking good. Although I have to say that I’m not super impressed with that music, it’s dreadful. When analyzing and thinking about a Joss Whedon TV series, I always go back to Buffy, because a). that was his first, and b). it was arguably his best (and certainly his longest running show). So, going back to Buffy, yes there was times when he used pop music, or not scored music, but I don’t ever remember hating it. This music, I pretty much hate. But, this is a promo, and not the show, that song, that music may never be in the show and may not even…

‘The Book Thief’ Trailer Starring Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson

‘The Book Thief’ Trailer Starring Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson

Hey, this looks downright good! It’s from Downton Abbey director Brian Percival (Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore?). I don’t know much about Downton Abbey but I hear it’s good.

This is also from the studio behind Life of Pi which many liked, and which Eric Rauch and Michael Minkoff talked about on Movieology and seemed to like.

During WWII, a young girl is living with her foster parents outside Munich, and they must hide a Jewish refugee in their home. The film arrives in theaters on November 15th. And another goody, it’s scored by none other than John Williams.

‘Getaway’ Trailer 2 Featuring Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, and Jon Voight

‘Getaway’ Trailer 2 Featuring Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, and Jon Voight

I don’t know, could be interesting, but first I’ll have to get over the fact that Selena Gomez is in it. She’s seems like nothing more than a teen idol up until this point and I admit that I’ve never actually seen her in anything. So maybe she’s good and I just don’t know it.

We’ll see because I’m willing to give this film a chance, even if it does look like it has elements of inspiration from ‘Taken’. The film hits theaters on August 30th.

Longer Trailer for ‘The Counselor’

Longer Trailer for ‘The Counselor’

Sex, drugs and violence. There’s going to be lots and lots of violence in this film methinks. And they’re definitely putting a little sex in this trailer, though if my past experience is any indication, virtually all of it is in the trailer (I hope that’s the case).

The film is written by Cormac McCarthy who penned No Country For Old Men for the Coen Brothers. And of course it is helmed by sometimes esteemed directory Ridley Scott who has directed a few hits here and there.

I’m still not sure what exactly to think of this film, but I am at least finally starting to get a feel for the…
