A fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean was in development long before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The pair are still referring to the films as ID Forever Part One and ID Forever Part Two and, in a new interview, Emmerich they’ll likely be shot in 2D and up-converted to 3D. Devlin also said they’re exploring a “lovable” tone as that was one of the surprising things people took out of the original. Read more after the jump.

I was not even aware there was a sequel in the works, let alone two. I’m not a huge fan of the original and I’m not a huge fan of Roland Emmerich. Still, it could be fun.

Shot in just 12 days while Whedon was finishing up The Avengers, this version retains the Bard’s dialogue but moves the action to contemporary LA. (Specifically, Whedon’s own house.) Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof star as Beatrice and Benedick, acquaintances whose prickly banter signals an obvious compatibility. Rest assured, dozens of theaters throughout North America will be screening a marathon of all four films in the series on Nov. 15. And to accommodate high demand,The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 will be released a day ahead of schedule in select theaters at 10 p.m. The film will be released globally the following day on Nov. 16.
