‘Stargate’ Movie Reboot is Now a Thing

‘Stargate’ Movie Reboot is Now a Thing
Mike Flemming Jr. — Deadline

Big day for reboots. First it was Cliffhanger, and now MGM and Warner Bros. announced they are teaming with Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin to create a re-imagined trilogy based on the sci-fi hit Stargate, one of the biggest titles in the MGM library. Emmerich, who directed and co-wrote the original film with Devlin, is on board to direct this one, with Devlin producing. Those two are already hard at work on a new version of Independence Day at Fox.

Sigh. See, here’s the thing: I don’t know too many Stargate fans who are really big fans of Roland Emmerich’s original film. Most fans I know…

‘Batman V Superman’ Sets Up “Five or Six” Film ‘Justice League’ Story, Says Kevin Smith

‘Batman V Superman’ Sets Up “Five or Six” Film ‘Justice League’ Story, Says Kevin Smith
Germain Lussier – /Film

He’s friends with Ben Affleck, he’s got a Batman podcast and now writer/director Kevin Smith is quickly becoming fandom’s number-one source for Batman v Superman news. Recently on one of Smith’s podcasts, the director commented on the color of Ben Affleck’s Batsuit in Zack Snyder’s 2016 release, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, Smith revealed a bit more about the film and the recent revelation of the title.

Smith criticizes the title but says it makes sense because, as he understand it, the film isn’t a Man of Steel sequel any more. Instead it’s the beginning of a five- or…

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Post-Credits Scene Explained

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Post-Credits Scene Explained
Russ Fischer — /Film

It is standard procedure for a comic book movie to end with a post-credits scene that points toward the next film to come. Once the full credits roll has gone by at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, there’s a big one. But the scene doesn’t feature anyone that casual audiences are likely to recognize, and it isn’t set in a location that is familiar to the X-Men films. So what’s it all about? We’ve got the Days of Future Past post-credits scene explained below. (Consequently, full spoilers for Days of Future Past are after the break.)

To recap, once the film’s credits end, the screen…

Alfonso Cuarón Won’t Direct ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

Alfonso Cuarón Won’t Direct ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’
Germain Lussier – /Film

Speaking to a Spanish news agency named EFE (via Digital Spy), Cuarón said the following about the rumor:

[Directing Prisoner of Azkaban] was a very beautiful experience for me. I have a lot of love for that universe and I tremendously admire JK Rowling, but today, for the present, projects based around lots of visual effects don’t attract me. I’m coming out of a five-year process of doing visual effects and now I sort of want to clean my palate of that a little bit.

Considering Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will surely be very effects heavy, that pretty much means Cuarón is…

Four Clips from ‘Edge of Tomorrow’

Four Clips from ‘Edge of Tomorrow’

Edge of Tomorrow has been getting really great reviews so far — at least what few of them we’ve been getting. Sure, Tom Cruise is playing a reluctant hero in a futurestic Sci-Fi film, and you might think that would get old. But so far, I’ve just not gotten tire of it.

I liked Oblivion last year, but I think I’ll like this one a lot better even than that. The film is based on the novel, All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and is directed by Doug Liman of The Bourne Identity fame (so how could this not be good, right?).

In addition to Tom Cruise, the film co-stars Emily Blunt, who did…

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Will Include Original Cast Members

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Will Include Original Cast Members
Angie Han — /Film

From the beginning, we’ve heard that X-Men: Apocalypse would be all about the First Class cast. But apparently, the filmmakers are still saving some room for the original X-Men.

In a new interview, writer Simon Kinberg confirmed that the classic cast would “certainly” be involved, albeit in supporting roles. Previously, only Hugh Jackman was expected to return.

Kinberg gave an unambiguous answer when The Daily Beast asked him about the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse. “It will focus primarily on the First Class cast, but it will certainly have some of the original cast involved, too,” he…

Edgar Wright Tweeted Then Deleted a Photo Responding to the ‘Ant-Man’ Firing

Edgar Wright Tweeted Then Deleted a Photo Responding to the ‘Ant-Man’ Firing
Sean O’Connell — Cinema Blend

Edgar Wright and Marvel are in that awkward, post-break-up stage, when it’s a good idea to stay off of social media because you can’t trust what you might possibly say about the other party. Wright is a dedicated Tweeter, and savvy fans (as well as Marvel die-hards) have been paying close attention to his feed to see if he’d have an official statement regarding the split with Marvel Studios over Ant-Man. Well, it happened on Sunday night … but it very quickly disappeared.

The Buster Keaton image shared above is the pic that Edgar Wright Tweeted with the description…

Edgar Wright Leaves ‘Ant-Man’

Edgar Wright Leaves ‘Ant-Man’
Angie Han — /Film

Ant-Man is getting new director. Edgar Wright has just dropped out of the Marvel movie, owing to “differences in their vision of the film.” Paul Rudd is still leading the cast of the superhero film, which also stars Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly. More details after the jump.

The unfortunate news was released in a press release today:

Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new…

‘Lucy’ Moved to July 25

‘Lucy’ Moved to July 25
Amber Ray — Entertainment Weekly

Fans of Scarlett Johansson in butt-kicking mode have less time to wait before she tears up the big screen again.

Lucy, the actress’ new thriller directed by Luc Besson, has been bumped up two weeks. The Universal film will now hit theaters July 25, after it was originally slated for an Aug. 8 debut.

FYI. Looking forward to this one and hope the move to doesn’t confuse people. But I doubt it was on most calendars (other than mine) that far out anyway.
