Watching this trailer was… interesting. I don’t know what I was expecting from Guardians of the Galaxy, I don’t really have any preconceived notions of what it is since I am totally unfamiliar with it. But somehow I wasn’t really expecting this. It kind of appears to be straight up sci-fi, which strikes me as a little odd from what I was expecting.

Summit are really confident that everyone is going to see their big, juicy YA adaptation “Divergent” next month. Or they’re at least hoping that their confidence and premature announcement that a sequel is coming will encourage audiences to a buy a ticket. You might not have heard of the director of this film, Wally Pfister (or perhaps you have), but you have almost certainly seen his work as a cinematographer under Christopher Noaln on films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Inception, to name a few. Now he’s stepping out and making a film of his own. I was skeptical of this film from the things I was hearing until I saw this trailer. But now I am totally in!

I’m having a hard time not looking forward to this film even though I kind of think it might not be any good. I mean it is being released in February which tells me the studio has no confidence in it. At the same time, it looks like it might be a mildly diverting little thriller. And it’s starring Liam Neeson. Who’s not up for that?

I hope it’s worth seeing because I have vague plans of seeing it.
