‘The Wolverine’ International Trailer

‘The Wolverine’ International Trailer

You may have forgotten in the excitement for Man of Steel coming to the big screen this weekend, but there is another super-hero coming to the screen next month, and it’s also looking pretty good.

This trailer definitely offers us the most extensive look at the film that we have seen so far. I like Logan/Wolverine as a character so it’s always fun to see what’s up with him.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will…

‘300: Rise of an Empire’ Trailer

‘300: Rise of an Empire’ Trailer

This appears to be a film about slow motion — LOTS of slow motion.

Believe it or not, I have not seen the first film, 300. I suppose I’ll have to fix that. I wasn’t watching as many films in theater when that came out and at the time it just did not appeal to me. I’m still not sure it does, but I should probably watch it. It might help this trailer to make more sense, and maybe I’d understand why over half the shots in this trailer are slo-mo.

After its victory over Leonidas’ 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The…

‘In a World’ Trailer

‘In a World’ Trailer

Germain Lussier over at /Film had this to say about the trailer:

From the instant In A World… premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, I remember thinking, “I can’t wait to see the trailer for that.” That day is here. Written, directed by and starring Lake BellIn A World… is the story of young woman trying to make a living in the male-dominated field of voice over work, specifically that of movie trailers. When marketers for a new movie decide to reinstate the classic phrase “In a world” for the film’s trailer, a competition breaks out that pits the young woman against her father…

Ashton Kutcher in ‘JOBS’ Opens on August 16

Ashton Kutcher in ‘JOBS’ Opens on August 16
Mike Fleming Jr - Deadline

Open Road Films will release JOBS – the highly anticipated film chronicling the story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout to one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century – nationwide on August 16, 2013. JOBS details the major moments and defining characters that influenced Steve Jobs on a daily basis from 1971 through 2001.

The whole delay thing was a bit strange and I still have no idea why it happened. It’s not a good omen though. It was originally set to open to general audiences on April 16. They said they wanted more time to market the film, but this…

Mixed Critic Reception for ‘Man of Steel’

Mixed Critic Reception for ‘Man of Steel’
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Well, reception certainly has been mixed. Our own review stated that “it strains under [Snyder]‘s indulgent action tendencies, but succeeds on heart where brawn will not,” but overall, reactions have varied from some calling it a masterpiece, to others saying it’s a big miss. So we figured we’d collect some of the other voices out there and give a rundown of some of other reviews that have landed. And in case you missed it, be sure to check out our rankings of Superman movies worst to best.

Some of those collected quotes are hilariously bad. Try this one out:

Jon M. Chu to Direct ‘G.I. Joe 3’

Jon M. Chu to Direct ‘G.I. Joe 3’
Mike Fleming Jr - Deadline

Paramount and MGM are making a deal with Jon M. Chu to direct another installment of G.I. Joe. It was Chu who essentially guided a do-over from 2009′s G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, and it wasn’t the easiest process. The film was refashioned with Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis as its core leads.

Because apparently there is no one left in the world who has any taste. I think I’m going to be sick. Why does garbage like this keep getting made? There have been so many other good films, why is G.I. Joe 2 getting enough traction to warrant another installment when it was such complete and…

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ Teaser Trailer

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ Teaser Trailer

Will the dragon be slain? Will Bilbo survive? Will they get the gold? Will the evil orc be defeated? It’s all so suspenseful…

Well, something like that anyway. If you’re itching to see Bilbo back in action this winter on the big screen, you can whet your appetite with this teaser. And we will be seeing new characters in this film played by Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch among others. As well as a returning character or two. such as Legolas played by Orlando Bloom. I have to say it’s not quite pulling me in the way the the first teaser for the first Hobbit film…

Abrams to Honor ‘Star Wars’, Start Production Early 2014
Dominic Patten - Deadline

“I think that the thing is so big and so massive to so many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before,” said JJ Abrams today about the challenges of directing the new Star Wars movie. Abrams also revealed that production on Star Wars Episode VII is set to start right at the beginning of 2014. “Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie,” said the Star Trek Into Darkness director Saturday at the Produced By conference on the Fox lot. Abrams added that the overseas shoot “drives me insane” as he…

‘White House Down’ Extended Trailer

‘White House Down’ Extended Trailer

This sort of looks like Olympus has Fallen on steroids. I liked Olympus has Fallen okay, but this has the potential to be even better. Or it could be a lot worse. I don’t think there will be any in between with this one.

One thing is for sure, there will be lots of explosions, and the president will get to fight back a lot more in this one. Oh, and there’s going to be humor — lots of humor. Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx should be able to deliver a good flick so I choose to hope for the best.

In Columbia Pictures’ White House Down, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just…
