‘Bones’ Season 7 Recap

‘Bones’ Season 7 Recap
TV Line

Bones is headed in a darker direction in Season 8 (Monday, Sept. 17 at 8/7c on Fox), thanks in part to the work of Big Bad Pelant. But before the storm clouds roll in, lets relive happier times in the following exclusive video recap of Season 7, aka the year Booth and Brennan merged their lives in a big way.

First of all, I think I am happy that Bones is headed in a darker direction. When I fell in love with the show in the first couple of seaons it was a much more serious show. Somewhere along the way it developed into a half comedy, half drama show. I like comedy and a little is fine,…

‘Transformers 4’ To Include More Robots For Toy Sales

‘Transformers 4’ To Include More Robots For Toy Sales
Slash Film

Hasbro’s reasoning is that Transformers: Dark of the Moon action figures didn’t sell well because the two previous films had also featured the same characters. That is, a kid who picked up Optimus Prime from Toys ‘R’ Us in 2007 after seeing the first Transformers movie probably wouldn’t be inspired to purchase another Optimus Prime in 2011 after seeing the third one. Therefore, Hasbro believes, introducing fresh characters to the lineup should boost toy sales.

Okay, first, TRANSFORMERS 4?!? What is wrong with the world??? I don’t want to live on this planet anymore!

But more to the…

Some Action from ‘Thor 2’

Some Action from ‘Thor 2’

Here’s a video via Splash News showing some on-set action from Thor 2.

I’m pretty hopeful that this will be a far better film than the first Thor film. But I repeat myself.

Anyway, enjoy.

‘Pirates 5’ In Production

‘Pirates 5’ In Production
Slash Film

A fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean was in development long before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The script was written, and rewritten, but with producer Jerry Bruckheimer off making The Lone Ranger with Gore Verbinski and lots questions pending over who would direct, things had become awfully quiet on the seven seas.

There’s an update later in the article that says:

Disney confirmed that a fifth Pirates film is in development, but says “this story isn’t accurate.”

So the interesting news here to me is that, regardless,…

‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Will Feature All New Characters

‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Will Feature All New Characters
Slash Film

MTV’s Josh Horowitz got the details in an interview with Whedon at the Toronto Film Festival, where the filmmaker was promoting Much Ado About Nothing. Whedon said he’d gotten “very far” in the creating the show, having already pitched it to the network “with a full framework, a full cast.” Said cast likely won’t be anyone we’ve already met, however. Whedon framed the decision as a conscious attempt to help S.H.I.E.L.D. stand alone:

It’s new characters. It needs to be its own thing. It needs to be adjacent [to the movies]. You don’t want to do a show where you’re constantly going, ‘Iron…

New ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Trailer

New ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Trailer
Movie Line

Children of the Nintendo generation, take heed: Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph was made just for you. In addition to setting up a rather compelling hero’s journey for video game character Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) — an arcade villain who goes “game-hopping” to reinvent himself as the good guy — the animated adventure stuffs in more Gen X/Y video game references than you can count. Who will weep for Bowser as he gives his testimony at AA for baddies!?

This really looks like a lot of fun actually. I’m getting a little tired of the major studios going down nostalgia lane, but I’ll…

No Extended Edition for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

No Extended Edition for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
Slash Film

We’re so surprised to learn that the director who doesn’t do directors or extended cuts is continuing to not do directors or extended cuts for the disc release of his latest film. While rumors recently flew that Christopher Nolan would reinstate up to 30 minutes to the home release of The Dark Knight Rises, turns out they’re just not true. The 165-minute version of the film that was in theaters is the version of the film, whether it was exactly what Nolan wanted, or if he cut scenes to fit IMAX running times, or any other reason.

Like I said, it doesn’t seem like something Nolan would…

‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ - Face Melting Fun — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ - Face Melting Fun

I had the opportunity to see Raiders of the Lost Ark this past weekend in its remastered IMAX glory. I have to say I was duly impressed. The film held up quite well for the most part. And seeing Indy “stick it to the Nazis” is always fun.

I must confess that I have not traditionally thought very highly of the Indiana Jones franchise. And I’m even talking pre-Crystal Skull. Until this past weekend it had been a couple years since I had seen the original trilogy, and I distinctly remember that they weren’t very good films. I have to say that Raiders of the Lost Ark is actually a far better…

E.T. Phones… Uh, Theaters Actually

In honor of its 30th anniversary (and to promote the upcoming Blu-ray release, ka-ching!), Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will return to theaters in October for a one-night only special engagement in October, via Fathom Events. As a bonus, the digitally-remastered film will be accompanied by making-of materials and a remembrance by Drew Barrymore — Gertie! — and, probably, buckets full of Reese’s Pieces.

I’m not a fan of this film. In fact I can’t stand it. But It seems like I should let you good folks know about it in case you want to see this wretched film in theaters.…
