Pine, Saldana, and Quinto Talk ‘Into Darkness’

Pine, Saldana, and Quinto Talk ‘Into Darkness’
TrekMovie.com

Another video interview with Star Trek Into Darkness stars Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto has emerged, this time they talk romance, secrecy and why Kirk has to earn the captain’s chair in the upcoming sequel. Pine also says that he felt more pressure in the sequel, than the first time he took on the role of Kirk. Watch it below.

The romance between Spock and Uhura is one of the more eyebrow raising things in JJ’s new incarnatino of Trek. I’m not entirely certain I’m on board with it, but we’ll see what happens.

Hayley Atwell Won’t Appear in ‘Captain America 2’

Hayley Atwell Won’t Appear in ‘Captain America 2’
/Film

The character Captain America has had a couple of prime love interests, most prominent being Peggy Carter, encountered in his “pre-freeze” days in the ’40s, and Sharon Carter, originally written as Peggy’s sister, but later turned into her niece, when Cap is revived in the present. (Whatever “the present” happens to mean, depending on when the story is being told.)

Hayley Atwell played Peggy in Captain America: The First Avenger, and did a wonderful job with the role. Various story elements, however, including the fact that Cap now lives in our present, meant that Peggy wasn’t likely to…

‘Oz’ New Year TV Spots

‘Oz’ New Year TV Spots

Yes New Years Day has come and gone, but I still thought these TV Spots for the upcoming Oz The Great and Powerful were pretty fun. And apparently we’re going to get to see the Wicked Witch of the West do her “appearing in fire” thing.

I’m still looking forward to this film. It released on March 8.

Veronica Belmont ‘Skyfall’ Fact or Fictional

Veronica Belmont ‘Skyfall’ Fact or Fictional

Wonder whether any of the hacking and other things in Skyfall is possible, or just a figment of the writers imagination? Veronica is here to help you figure it out. You may be surprised as she and her special guest figure out what’s real and what isn’t.

Personally, I’m still stuck on the whole mouth plate thing or whatever it was Silva had that made his face and mouth look normal. That just was not believable to me.

Hansel and Gretel TV Spot

Hansel and Gretel TV Spot

Fasten your seat belts for a strange looking ride. Hansel and Gretel is due out this month staring Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner. It’s a dark twist on an old fairy tale, and yes I know that’s starting to get old but I’m still thinking I might like this film though I am reserving the right to hate it. Of course Jeremy seems like an up and coming star that everyone likes, and I have enjoyed most of the things he’s been in. And things he’s been in that I haven’t enjoyed have not necessarily been his fault.

Less known to me is Gemma. The only thing I have seen her is in Quantum of Solace

Tom Hiddleston Praises ‘Thor 2’

Tom Hiddleston Praises ‘Thor 2’
TotalFilm.com

Filming on Thor: The Dark World wrapped just before Christmas, and Tom Hiddleston has wasted no time in singing the sequel’s praises.

“It’s fantastic, truly,” he tells the Press Association. “We are making an amazing film, and we’re having a wonderful time.”

Returning as malicious god Loki, the brother of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hiddleston went on to praise director Alan Taylor (best known for Game Of Thrones) for “deepening” Thor‘s world.

I shall be the judge of that. Still, I’m glad he’s proud of the film he’s making. I certainly hope it’s better than the first Thor film…

‘Mega Spider’ - Sigh

‘Mega Spider’ - Sigh
FilmoFilia.com

Written by Gregory GierasMega Spider will tell us the story of a 50 foot tall alien spider who escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles.

But you have nothing to be afraid about – there’s also a great team of scientists, soldiers, and even one clever exterminator who will (just a wild guess) kill that **** thing before the city is destroyed.

Sometimes it is necessary to link to something just because of the sheer stupidity of the thing. I have been unable to find out when this “film” will be released. IMDb lists the date as 2012 but I can’t find much beyond…

Evolution of the Enterprise

Evolution of the Enterprise

If you will indulge my geeky side a moment. I know a few of you don’t like the Star Trek stuff, so if you are one of those, feel free to skip over this. I could not resist.

Though the style of this video with the over the top announcery voiceover is a little pompous and self important, I found this video to be really fun for the geek in me, showing the evolution of the Enterprise through out the Star Trek timeline (except for the new timeline of the JJ Abrams films).

The description on YouTube says this was taken from the Star Trek: Enterprise DVD Extras so you might want to watch…

‘Monsters University’ Ad

‘Monsters University’ Ad

Pixar is so good at this stuff. In this sequel to Monsters Inc. the kiddos are going to college to learn how to square children and such. It’s a fun concept, and provides the really fun opportunity for ads like this.

I always think back to the awesome marketing for Toy Story 3, such as the Google Search Ad. It’s really great marketing, and though completely different in some ways, this ad for Monsters University is similar in that it’s not directly advertising the upcoming film, but it sure is getting you fired up for it.

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but…

TJ’s Movie Picks of 2012

TJ’s Movie Picks of 2012

Happy New Year! It seems to be a bit of a slow news morning. Maybe some more news and links will show up later today, but since I have to drive ten hours back home from visiting relatives today, I’m going to be unavailable if stuff turns up. And Joseph, well he’s still out partying up the new year or something so it’s up to me to give you guys something.

I thought it would be fun to round up my top ten films from 2012. Though in my various reviews perhaps I may have rated one or two films more highly than what I list here, I think these are the films worthy of mentioning for 2012. I hope…
