Everybody is Taller Than He Is

Everybody is Taller Than He Is

TJ and Joe discuss ‘The Avengers’ assembling for ‘The Avengers 2’ in February of next year and a few thoughts on the Marvel Universe in general, trailer 2 for ‘The Internship’ and how TJ is not liking this in any way, the news of a ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, the ‘Thor 2’ teaser and the state of teasers versus trailers in general, and then they get to the main topic. Up for review this week is ‘Oblivion’ which TJ and Joe both liked a lot but quite a lot of critics didn’t like the film so much. One critic in particular really did a disservice to the film, which TJ and Joe discuss. Beware of a few spoilers here and there! But be sure to tune in for a great conversation!

‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Justice League’ Rumors/Info

‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Justice League’ Rumors/Info
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Empire recently profiled the upcoming superhero film, and within the pages is a very interesting tidbit indicating that Snyder may not be done with dudes in tights: “Whether we get a ‘Justice League,’ [Warner Bros] say, depends on ‘Man of Steel.’ If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct.”

Of course, this revelation opens up a Pandora’s box of questions ranging from potential ‘Steel’ sequels to Marvel-esque world building, and Snyder teases at both. “We didn’t design the movie like Batman, but I don’t think anybody would say that you design a Superman movie as a one-off,”…

John Harrison Video Messages (‘Star Trek Into Darkness’)

John Harrison Video Messages (‘Star Trek Into Darkness’)

So John Harrison has been keeping busy sending out visual message (from the future in which the Star Trek alternate universe takes place to our present no less).

First, a few days ago he released one about Captain Kirk, detailing his weaknesses and how he would make sure Kirk’s mistakes would get the entire crew killed.

Then yesterday, he released one about Spock, the emotions he struggled with that might threaten to be his undoing.

See the videos below.

“It’s complicated,” he told Flavorwire. “I can’t get into it because it only gets me angry, because I’m so proud of that movie.

“For a while there, and someday we may actually get there, we actually talked about doing a television show which would be sort of fun because it would be a TV show looking at a movie that’s looking at a TV show, something like that.

I’d certainly watch more Galaxy Quest. Some have been known to say it’s the best Star Trek film that never was. While I don’t quite agree with that, it is an awesome comedy film making fun of Star Trek and the like and I would…

Netflix Bigger Than HBO

Netflix Bigger Than HBO
Angie Han - /Film

As other streaming services scramble to catch up to Netflix, Netflix has long eyed HBO as its biggest rival. And if Netflix isn’t hasn’t pulled off a decisive win quite yet, it is at least closing in. The company reported that it had 29.17 million domestic subscribers in the first quarter of 2013, surpassing the 28.7 million reported by HBO at the end of 2012. Netflix’s numbers represent an increase of 2 million domestic and 1 million foreign subscribers since the end of 2012.

Crazy, right? But this streaming thing is just a fad, people don’t want their content on demand. Traditional…

Japanese Trailer for ‘The Wolverine’

Japanese Trailer for ‘The Wolverine’

If your excited to see what the X-Men universe has in store for us for the next couple of film, especially with Bryan Singer back at the helm of one of them, then you are not alone. You are in the company of at least me.

This installment is not the one from Bryan Singer, but it looks like it holds potential all the same:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a…

Oblivion — Review

4 of 5 stars
Oblivion

Following up on the major box office success that is TRON: Legacy, director Joseph Kosinski has placed himself squarely back at the forefront of the sci-fi genre in a big way, with a fairly big star: Tom Cruise.

Cruise may not be the most versatile actor, but when he works in a role, he works very well. My favorite role for Cruise to date may well be Minority Report. Tom Cruise is essentially playing the same part in all the films he’s good in. So the question is/was, is he cast right in this role?

The Casting

I can give a resounding yes to that question. For whatever reason, Cruise…

Japanese Trailer for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

Japanese Trailer for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

And here is the second post on Star Trek for today. This is a Japanese trailer for the upcoming film and it reveals a little bit of new footage that we have not seen yet.

Despite the irritation with J.J.‘s style showing through in my previous posting of the second clip from the film, I am looking forward to this film quite a lot. Therefore, this trailer is exciting and worth watching.

After watching this trailer, you will also want to check out Anthony’s shot by shot of whatever new material is in this trailer. You can do so over here.

Here’s the trailer:

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Clip 2

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Clip 2

Got a couple of Star Trek posts coming up. This first one is a second clip from the upcoming film. I posted the first one yesterday, and unlike that clip, I have not seen this one in my IMAX screening of the first 9 minutes of the film.

I must say, that this clip demonstrates very well my mixed feelings on J.J.‘s version of Star Trek. This very much has a Star Wars feel to it, even the sounds smack of Star Wars. My feeling on that is that J.J. should wait until he’s making Star Wars to make Star Wars, let Trek be Trek. But my opinions on this subject are well established.

My other…

‘Avengers 2’ Teaser Attached to ‘Iron Man 3’

‘Avengers 2’ Teaser Attached to ‘Iron Man 3’
Yahoo India

Mumbai, April 22 (IANS) The teaser of “Avengers 2” will be released with “Iron Man 3” Friday.

“It’s true that the teaser of ‘Avengers 2’ is being attached to ‘Iron Man 3’. It is a double attraction for the fans of superhero films because they will get to see what ‘Avengers 2’ has in store along with the action-packed ‘Iron Man 3’,” said a source.

For some reason, India is getting the film one week before we do here in The States, and I hope this is not some India only thing, but that we get the teaser too. It seems a little odd since The Avengers 2 is so far away, but you never know…
