The Machete Order: Star Wars Revisited

The Machete Order: Star Wars Revisited

Why you should watch Star Wars movies out of order

The other day, TJ Draper and I recorded our MovieByte podcast. In this latest episode, we talked about the eventful Star Wars news, and what it means for future episodic releases in the franchise.

But TJ couldn’t help himself. He wanted to address films I through VI too. It was actually a lively discussion, seeing as how no two Star Wars fans’ perspectives of the films are exactly alike, there was room for debate about the merits of each film.

In so doing, TJ remarked that he likes to watch the films in the Machete Order. I hadn’t the…

Mark Hamill in 1983 About Future of Star Wars

Mark Hamill in 1983 About Future of Star Wars

Well, here’s a gem. It’s a little hard to understand, and watch for that matter: poor quality VHS captured digitally from the looks of it. But it’s fun none the less. Hamill had some information and ideas about the sequels even then. Given where Lucas has gone, and that he’s only minimally involved now who knows how much has changed and what will or won’t happen.

Still, the geek in me rejoiced to find this.

Revolution’s Kripke Teases Blackout Answer

Revolution’s Kripke Teases Blackout Answer
Entertainment Weekly

“We’re talking very seriously about revealing [what caused the blackout] before end of this season,” Kripke tells EW.  The answer is something that’s passed muster from a physicist consulted by the producers. So expect what caused the blackout to be at least somewhat scientifically plausible.

“The sweet spot is to find an answer that’s actually scarier than what you were thinking,” Kripke says. “Like, ‘Oh wait, this is not even just about electricity.’ And that’s what we’re designing. I don’t see any reason to withhold it much longer.”

Timothy Zahn Weighs In

Timothy Zahn Weighs In
Entertainment Weekly

Although no one outside of Lucas and Disney executives know the content of the planned movie sequels, the first of which would come out in 2015, they will more than likely be original tales.

That means Zahn’s books won’t be directly adapted, but the author says that was always the case: “The books were always just the books.”

But years ago, he was briefed on Lucas’ plans for sequels, and how the Thrawn books would fit in. “The original idea as I understood it— and Lucas changes his mind off and on, so it may not be what he’s thinking right now – but it was going to be three…

Fringe fans, clear your calendars: Jan. 18, 2036 2013 is when it all comes to an end.

This is what I look like when I’m sad… This show really deserved at least couple more seaons.

Rise of the Guardians Featurette

Rise of the Guardians Featurette

I haven’ t posted about Rise of the Guardians yet because I’m just not sure whether it’s going to be any good. But that said, I can’t keep ignoring it. So, here’s some stuff about it.

Bones Returns Tonight - Sweets Staying with B&B

Bones Returns Tonight - Sweets Staying with B&B
TV Line

We’re referring, of course, to the show’s suddenly single shrink Sweets, whose break-up with Daisy left him essentially homeless. Enter Booth, who invites him to crash at Casa de B&B.

The catch? He never vetted the new houseguest with his significant other!

I am a long time fan, but I’m experiencing some serious frustration with this show right now. Why are we messing with the relationships? Why did Sweets break up with Daisy, again? What are these stupid rumors of breaking up the beloved Hodgins and Angela? Grrr. TV Shows.

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ International Trailer

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ International Trailer

This is looking like it will be a decent action film. G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra was decent. Not earth shatteringly good or anything, but I thought it was fun. And I think this film will fall right in that same category. Although having Bruce Willlis does have the possiblity of raising the bar.

Lucas Will Donate $4 Billion to Charity?

Lucas Will Donate $4 Billion to Charity?
Mashable

Most of the $4 billion that George Lucas will get from his sale of Lucasfilm to Disney will go to to charitable initiatives, according to a report.

The bulk of the cash will fund “a foundation which will primarily focus on educational issues,” a Lucasfilm rep told The Hollywood Reporter. “George Lucas has expressed his intention, in the event the deal closes, to donate the majority of the proceeds to his philanthropic endeavors,” the rep added.

Lucas heads up the George Lucas Educational Foundation, which includes Edutopia. In 2006, the foundation donated $175 million to USC, Lucas’…
