A ‘Roger Rabbit’ Sequel

A ‘Roger Rabbit’ Sequel
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

A mooted sequel has been kicked around Hollywood for the better part of two decades (read more about that here). And while traction on the sequel has been tortoise-like for 20 years, fans wondered recently whether the project might get deep-sixed now that lead actor Bob Hoskins has retired from acting. The good news for the devoted is that it appears ‘Roger Rabbit’ can live on without Hoskins.

Hmm. I’m not sure this film merits a sequel.

Ant-Man is definitely the biggest news here, confirming not only that it’ll be the first film of Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three, but Phase Three will start in the same year as The Avengers 2 (scheduled for release May 1, 2015, and noticeably absent from the above press release). It also closes the loop, as it were, on Phase 2. We’ll be getting the one new film –Guardians of the Galaxy – and three sequels, two of which will be in 3D. That’s not to sayCaptain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians won’t be in 3D, they just haven’t started shooting yet.

This is where my weakness…

‘Taken 2’ Criticism

‘Taken 2’ Criticism
Ryan Fleming - Digital Trends

Have you ever watched an action movie and thought to yourself, “you know, I like the action, but what it really needs is about 20 times more camera angles so I’m not entirely certain what I just saw — that would be great.” If so, then you are in luck! If, however, like the vast majority of functioning humans, you actually like to see the things you are looking at, Taken 2might not be the film for you.

Taken 2 is a shallow, kinetic mess of visual trickery that never, ever stops, even when it should. Like a twitchy kid with ADD and an alarming coffee addiction, Director Olivier Megaton…

‘Taken 2’ Second Week at the Box Office

‘Taken 2’ Second Week at the Box Office
Entertainment Weekly

Liam Neeson’s Taken 2 kicked its way back into the top slot for a second weekend with an estimated $22.5 million, and Ben Affleck’s political thriller Argo and the Ethan Hawke horror flick Sinister were close second and third, respectively. The one-two-three punch helped boost the box office to a fabulous 47 percent gain over the same weekend in 2011, when Real Steel slugged its way to a second No. 1 finish.

While Taken 2 continues to outpace the 2009 original — after 10 days, it’s notched $86.8 million, in comparison to Taken‘s $53.6 million total in the same time frame — it still…

Agent Coulson LIVES!

Agent Coulson LIVES!
Marvel

The actor made a surprise appearance at the panel to talk about his role as Principal Coulson on “Ultimate Spider-Man” before playing a special video from “Marvel’s The Avengers” Director Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, announcing Gregg’s return to the role of Agent Coulson in the upcoming pilot. Whedon will also co-write the pilot to “Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.” with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.

This reminds me a lot of Angel. Yes really. Warning, SPOILER FOR Buffy and Angel ahead if by some chance you haven’t seen the shows yet.

Angel was killed at the end of…

‘Looper’ Commentary Track for Theaters

‘Looper’ Commentary Track for Theaters
CNet

In a Tumblr post on October 5, Johnson, who also directed the AMC TV show “Breaking Bad,” provides a downloadable MP3 file to be played during the movie. In the post, Johnson also recommends that the version of the commentary that cinemagoers would enjoy will be different from the one on the upcoming DVD or Blu-rays.

He also encourages good theater etiquette by asking those listening to the commentary to hide the “glowing screens” of their media players (or smartphones) while the movie is playing.

This is a really fascinating idea, and one I’m not sure I would have thought of on my…

Mary Elizabeth Winstead to Play Sharon Carter?

Mary Elizabeth Winstead to Play Sharon Carter?
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

Remember last week when it was reported that ”Game of Thrones” stars Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown-Findlay of “Downton Abbey” fame, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots and Alison Brie were all in the running to be Steve Rogers’ gal in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”? Well, according to Latino Review the role is actually for Sharon Carter (niece of Peggy Carter played by Hayley Atwell in “Captain America: The First Avenger”), and that while those names are indeed on the list, it’s actually Mary Elizabeth Winstead who “has the most traction” with Marvel.

So two rumors in there, one of course…

A Talk with ‘Revolution’ Show Runner (SPOILERS!)

A Talk with ‘Revolution’ Show Runner (SPOILERS!)
TV Line

If you already miss Maggie, Kripke is with you. “Anna Lise [Phillips] is a wonderful actress, and I love that character. I sort of have a bad habit in the shows that I run of killing off the people that I love, and Maggie was one of those,” he said.

But to really drive home how perilous and unpredictable the survivors’ reality is, Kripke and his team “very quickly realized the scariest thing we could do was kill the doctor among them,” leaving them helpless, he continued. “It was purely a creative decision about giving the world a real charge of danger. As we move forward in the series,…

‘Flight’ 90 second trailer

In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?

This actually looks pretty good and I’m looking forward to it. Flight stars Denzel Washington, Kelly Reilly, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty, John Goodman, and Tamara…
