‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel ‘London Has Fallen’ is In the Works
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Gerard Butler! That’s right, the man who led “Olympus Has Fallen” this spring to a rather surprising $161 million worldwide (not bad for something on a $70 million budget, and a better ROI than the $204 million haul versus $150 million budget of “White House Down”) is back for “London Has Fallen.” LOL, OMG. Even better (worse?), Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell will return too, with everyone reprising their respective roles. So what, pray tell, is the plot? Well, it won’t be the president in danger this time.

Instead, the story will find the president…

Pamela Gocobachi - Entertainment Weekly

EW has confirmed that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit has dropped off the Christmas release schedule and will now open Jan. 17, 2014.

The Paramount Pictures’ action movie is based on characters from late author Tom Clancy and stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) as a young CIA analysis who uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack. That’s not a good sign. When’s the last time we saw a…

‘Planes: Fire and Rescue’ Trailer — Ugh

‘Planes: Fire and Rescue’ Trailer — Ugh

Oh, no no no no no no… I think it’s safe to say that if Disney’s Planes was ever any good, or going to be any good it has officially jumped the shark now. I mean, ugh. Who wants to watch this??? This sort of thing, by the way, is why I was not a happy camper when Disney bought out Pixar. On the one hand, they have allowed Pixar to remain Pixar and not tampered too much, to my surprise (although one could argue that Pixar’s quality has gone down in recent years, I’m not convinced that Disney’s fault though), but they do have the rights to Pixar’s properties. And Disney will be Disney. They…

‘City of Ashes’ Starts Production in 2014 — Because of Reasons…
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

It seems your letters and petitions have paid off as Constantin has revealed that ‘City Of Ashes’ will go into production in 2014. “The fan response, from the blogosphere and the thousands of mails we have received, has encouraged us to keep going,”  head of the company’s film and TV Martin Moszkowicz told THR, before adding the zinger:  “It’s been overwhelmingly positive, in contrast to some other YA titles.” But that doesn’t mean that he’s completely blind to the fact that ‘Bones’ failed to find a wide audience.

“My” letters? Definitely not my letters. That first film was terrible.…

Darth Vader TV Special?

Darth Vader TV Special?
Russ Fischer - /Film

Among the plans are things that we know, such as the launch of Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD, and the new Episode VII feature film to hit in 2015. (This pamphlet, by the way, would seem to squash any rumor that Episode VII will be pushed out of Summer 2015 and into December of that year.)

But one line is very curious. In the Spring/Summer 2014 column is this line: “Darth Vader Themed TV Specials.” Check out an unverified image of the brochure below.

I think I just died a little… do. not. want.

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ International Trailer

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ International Trailer

I am really not liking the look of this. This is not the Jack Ryan we might remember. This is a retconned version. This looks more like a cousin to the Jason Bourne films than anything — which really just irritates me more than anything else. Jack Ryan was never a superstar hero. But, whatever. I’m sure I’ll watch it and even enjoy it on some level. But some part of me will be sad. This is not the film I thought we would get.

Here’s the summary:

The story follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan, which scarred him forever, and into his early days in the Financial…

The Agents of SHIELD

The Agents of SHIELD

I have really been enjoying the new Marvel/ABC show Agents of SHIELD. It seems like just what I wanted to fill the gap left by the end of Fringe and the cancelation of my favorite new show last year, Alcatraz. I won’t pretend that SHIELD is yet as good as Fringe was, but it has the potential to be. And it ties into the large, Marvel Cinematic Universe — what’s not to like about that?

Well, apparently there’s something not to like about this show because you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting someone who’s ragging on the show for some reason or other. I have to wonder why that is and I…

NBC Plans a ‘Remington Steele’ Sequel (gag)

NBC Plans a ‘Remington Steele’ Sequel (gag)
Kimberley Roots - TV Line

Hold on to your lunch you guys…

The undertaking, also named Remington Steele, would center on Olivia Holt, daughter of Remington Steele and Laura Holt (played byPierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist in the original version).

In the comedy, Ms. Holt would reopen her parents’ detective agency and soon find herself in the same kind of funny, action-filled situations that provided the background for Remington and Laura’s five-season-long romance.

I know I’ve probably talked about this thing or that being the worse idea ever, but we have a new contender right here. I love Remington Steele.…

‘Catching Fire’ — Less Shaky Cam More Love Triangle

‘Catching Fire’ — Less Shaky Cam More Love Triangle
Adam Chitwood - Colider.com

Speaking with New York Magazine (viaThe Playlist), Francis Lawrence addressed his take on the material, noting that he has ditched Ross’ camera style:

No! [Laughs.] No shaky cam. I think a lot of people will be happy to hear that.

He’s not kidding there. Ross’ decision to go with the ultra shaky shake ‘em up cam was absolutely the worst aspect about the first film. Shaky cam is not a replacement for good choreography. Garry Ross, and others, please take note of this fact before making more films. Thank you.

Lawrence also added that he has decided to focus more on the love story…

Lucas Spent One Year Developing ‘Star Wars VII’

Lucas Spent One Year Developing ‘Star Wars VII’
Sandy Schaefer - ScreenRant

Jett Lucas informed Flicks and the City (via Mashable) that his father was “ready to let [Star Wars] go and let it grow,” but that he spent a year mapping out the franchise’s future before doing so:

“He was very torn on the matter,” Jett Lucas told YouTube channel Flicks and the City in an interview posted Sunday, revealing that his dad had started researching and writing the new Star Wars movies about a year before the Disney sale — and told him casually over a dinnertime phone call. “He’s happiest when he’s writing and doing something with his time.” What the senior Lucas has done is set…
