Nathan Fillion Probably Won’t Be Batman

Nathan Fillion Probably Won’t Be Batman
Sandra Gonzalez - Entertainment Weekly

Whether Christian Bale has or has not been offered $50 million to reprise his role as Batman in Man of Steel 2 remains a mystery. (He probably hasn’t.) But with the suit officially unoccupied – as of now– the race is on to find a new Batman. But one name you can probably cross off your list? Castle star and generally geek-loved actor Nathan Fillion.

“I wonder if my throat could take it,” he said, joking that he doesn’t believe he has the vocal stamina to mimic Batman’s gravelly voice. “I think I’d make an excellent Bruce Wayne; I think I’d make a terrible Batman.”

Hahaha, I love it! I…

Joseph Kosinski to Direct ‘Twilight Zone’ Film

Joseph Kosinski to Direct ‘Twilight Zone’ Film
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

While the anticipated sequel (well, anticipated by nerds) to “Tron: Legacy” remains a thing that might happen atDisney (though we think with their slate full of Marvel movies and “Star Wars” sequels, it’s probably not a big priority), director Joseph Kosinski is looking at some other options for his follow-up to this spring’s sci-fi “Oblivion.” And it looks like he wants to enter another dimension…a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind.

THR reports that he’s signing the paperwork to helm the long-brewing “The Twilight Zone” for Warner Bros.

I know, quite…

Blomkamp says ‘Chappie’ Will Be Hilarious Mix of RoboCop and ‘E.T.’
Ben Brock - The Playlist

Neill Blomkamp, the South African director who came to prominence in 2009 with “District 9,” has only just released his new film “Elysium,” but already he’s talking up his next one. The folks over at the LA Times have put together various interviews and press releases to give us an idea of what the project, “Chappie,” will be like: and that idea is, basically, ” ‘RoboCop’ but hilarious.” Tell us more…

“Chappie,” co-scripted by Blomkamp’s wife Terri Tatchell, who also wrote “District 9,” is described by Blomkamp as, “If you mixed ‘RoboCop’ with ‘E.T.’ and it was… funny, that’s what it…

Bruce Willis Bored with Action Films

Bruce Willis Bored with Action Films
Angie Han - /Film

Since making the first Die Hard in the ’80s, Bruce Willis has built himself a fine career as an action star. While he occasionally forays into other types of roles from time to time (like in last year’s Moonrise Kingdom), there’s no question that he’s best known for his ass-kicking turns. Heck, this year saw him appearing in three different action sequels — A Good Day to Die HardG.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Red 2.

But Willis claims he’s now growing weary of the same-old same-old. In a recent interview, he declared that he was “a bit bored” of action movies these days. Though to be clear, he…

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Casts Ian Hart

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Casts Ian Hart
James Hibberd - Entertainment Weekly

The team working on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have an unwritten rule: All super-powers introduced on the show must be explained by science — not magic or supernatural forces.* So it should come as no surprise that the show is adding another scientist to its ensemble cast.

Actor Ian Hart is joining the highly anticipated ABC series in a recurring role. As usual, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is being very tight-lipped about the character and how he will impact the drama.

The only role I’ve seen him in is in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as Professor Quirrell. He was fine, I did not…

RUMOR: Hugh Jackman Offered $100 Million for 4 Films

RUMOR: Hugh Jackman Offered $100 Million for 4 Films
Lauren Humphries-Brooks - We Got This Covered

Today is a day for rumors, it seems. This latest one, though, has nothing to do with either Star Wars: Episode VII or the casting of Batman in Batman vs Superman. Instead, there’s a rumor circulating the tubes of the Internet that Hugh Jackman has been offered $100 million to reprise his role as Wolverine in four more Marvel movies.

Say what now? FOUR? Yes, four movies in which Jackman – who has already played the clawed immortal seven times – will reprise the role that he’s most famous for. Now, we’ll grant that this rumor actually comes to us via The National Enquirer, which is not a…

RUMOR! Ian McDiarmid to Reprise Palpatine in Episode VII?

RUMOR! Ian McDiarmid to Reprise Palpatine in Episode VII?
Jesse Giroux - JoBlo

Jedi News is claiming that a source has told them that Ian McDiarmid will be back as Emperor Palpatine in the new film:

(Do I really need to put a spoiler tag for events from the original STAR WARS trilogy? Well just in case, this is your warning. There’s also details about the STAR WARS expanded universe, so you might want to avoid that too.)

The specifics of the role are unclear, but it seems likely that McDiarmid will be returning to his signature role of Palpatine. Whether as the original or a clone of, we are yet to discern.

I’m not that familiar with the expanded universe for STAR…

Was Christian Bale Offered $50 Million To Reprise Batman?

Was Christian Bale Offered $50 Million To Reprise Batman?
El Mayimbe - Latino Review

Is it possible that Christian Bale is still not done donning the cape the cowl?

According to a new ebook, “Beyond Batman: The Unauthorized True Story of Christian Bale and His Dark Knight Dilemma” this may be the case.

The book cites sources close to Legendary Pictures that asserts Bale may have “no choice” but to don the cowl at least one more time.

According to the publisher of “Beyond Batman,” the Hollywood mega star likely won’t be able to refuse the potential $50 million payday that could come from playing Batman again.

I’m thinking this is a bunch of schlock. I don’t believe it…

‘Star Wars’ — The News is There is No News

‘Star Wars’ — The News is There is No News
Lindsey Bahr - Entertainment Weekly

Boos and groans greeted news that there was no news.

Fans gathered in the Anaheim Convention Center for Disney’s D23 on Saturday hoping for some sort of tease about the highly anticipated seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise. We were, of course, warned yesterday that there wasn’t going to be any news. But we didn’t expect it to be true.

Ponderous.

‘Now You See Me’ — The Next Trick is a Sequel

‘Now You See Me’ — The Next Trick is a Sequel
Erin Strecker - Entertainment Weekly

For their next trick, the magician heist is getting a sequel.

During a public call this morning, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts that production on the sequel will happen in 2014. A sequel isn’t altogether surprising: Despite little buzz, the Louis Leterrier-directed picture starring Jesse Eisenberg and Isla Fisher has grossed over $275 million worldwide.

Huh. Doesn’t seem warranted to me.
