‘Space Jam 2’ Possibly in the Works for Some Reason
Anita Busch — Deadline

According to Deadline.com, a sequel to the 1996 Warner Bros. film Space Jam is in the works, with Lebron James set to star.

Another Space Jam film? Why not? The first film, which broke ground for Warner Bros and starred then-Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan and a slew of other top NBA players, ended up grossing $230M worldwide for the studio.

Charlie Ebersol, who already has a good relationship with the NFL through his NFL Characters Unite series on USA Network, is about ready to do the same with the NBA. He has been brought on to the produce the picture through his production company,…

‘Heroes Reborn’

‘Heroes Reborn’
Brian Anthony Hernandez — Mashable

NBC is reviving Heroes, Tim Kring’s popular sci-fi TV drama about people with superhuman abilities, as a miniseries in 2015. The network revealed the comeback Saturday night, saying it has ordered 13 episodes “for a new standalone story arc” called Heroes Reborn.

Before the show debuts on TV in 2015, NBC plans to launch a digital series to introduce the plot and characters. No cast members have been announced, though some may end up being from the original series’ four seasons, which aired from 2006 to 2010.

Yes please!

The show faltered here and there throughout it’s original four…

Final Episodes of ‘Breaking Bad’ Available for Streaming on Netflix

Final Episodes of ‘Breaking Bad’ Available for Streaming on Netflix

As of midnight PST, the final critically-acclaimed episodes of the popular AMC show Breaking Bad, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, are now available for streaming over on Netflix! In other words, as of today, you have no (good) excuse to not sit down and binge-watch the entire series!

In all seriousness, if you listen to The MovieByte Podcast, you know that I don’t get around to watching many television shows, so it’s rare for me to endorse a show like this. I started watching Breaking Bad in December 2012, not expecting to like it much, but I ended up loving it. Now, having seen the…

RoboCop (2014) — Review

4 of 5 stars
RoboCop (2014)

And here is where I’m going to get into unforgivable trouble I’m afraid — at least according to some people. Unlike the original RoboCop, I really enjoyed this film.

I believe that, when you look across the films of history that stand the test of time, the focus is almost always on the story and the characters. My issue with the original film is that they didn’t focus too much on the story and characters. In fact, as I argued, they never really figured out what to focus on.

This modern remake is actually quite refreshing in that regard. The story has been almost entirely re-imagined from…

RoboCop (1987) — Review

RoboCop (1987)

There is a part of me that does not want to write this. For whatever reason, RoboCop seems to be a beloved classic. I really don’t fully comprehend why. Admittedly, near future is one of the hardest types of sci-fi to do. In some ways, far future sci-fi is much easier to write because you can kind of let your imagination go wild, and if you write about a period of time that is well beyond your lifetime, it will be a long time before your stuff doesn’t really work. But the sci-fi is only one of the problems with RoboCop.

So obviously I didn’t like this film all that much, and this sort of…

Ron Howard to Direct ‘The Jungle Book’ For Warner Bros.
Angie Han — /Film

Warner Bros.’ The Jungle Book took a hit last month when Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu dropped out over scheduling conflicts, but now it’s back on track with a new director. Ron Howard has entered talks to helm the live-action adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling adventure.

THR reported the news. The Warner Bros. picture is one of two Jungle Book films in the works. Disney’s live-action adaptation has Jon Favreau at the helm, and is set to open October 9, 2015. Warner Bros.’ Jungle Book does not have a release date yet, and it might not for some time — it’s unclear whether Howard would…

‘Black Widow’ To Get Her Own Film Starring Scarlett Johansson
Joanna Robinson — Vanity Fair

Hold on to your hammers, Scarlett Johansson is about to shatter the comic book movie glass ceiling. So Much for ‘RoboCop’ — ‘The LEGO Movie’ and ‘About Last Night’ Take Two Top Spots at Box Office

So Much for ‘RoboCop’ — ‘The LEGO Movie’ and ‘About Last Night’ Take Two Top Spots at Box Office
The Playlist

When your options are a tepidly received “RoboCop” remake and a Valentine’s Day-themed romance movie that only the teenage girl die-hards seemed interested in (“Endless Love”), is it any wonder “The Lego Movie” blocked out the competition this weekend? That said, performing quite well was the “About Last Night” remake. And no, don’t chalk that one up to ’80s nostalgia—instead, see it as one more film connecting with the underserved African-American audience who are happy to come out in droves when a movie is actually geared towards them.

Well what am I supposed to say to that. And what…

Kevin Feige Talks about Black Widow’s Role in ‘The Avengers 2’

Kevin Feige Talks about Black Widow’s Role in ‘The Avengers 2’
ComicBookMovie.com

“We start filming the next Avengers film at the end of March,” said Feige in the latest issue of Total Film mag’. ”[Black] Widow’s part in that is very big. We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that.”

“We wanted to change the dynamic of the cinematic universe with this film,” said Feige of Captain America: The Winter Soldier“We wanted Cap and really the entire cinematic universe to be very different at the end of…

The LEGO Movie — Review

4 of 5 stars
The LEGO Movie

Back when I was a kid — geeze, listen to me, don’t I sound old? Anyway…

When I was a kid I loved to play with my LEGOs. I built so many things with LEGOs that I couldn’t possibly remember them all. The thing that I almost always had built and never took apart was a construction that crudely resembled the (original) Starship Enterprise, but that’s another story. I will tell you that in the mid to late ‘80s and early to mid ‘90s, we didn’t have all these fancy LEGO contraptions that “kids these days” have. We had generic LEGO men, and we had bricks of differing colors and differing sizes and…
