Bryan Singer Confirmed for ‘Apocalypse’ Plus Story Tie-in Details
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Well, today brings with it a couple more updates starting with Vulture confirming that Bryan Singer will be back in the director’s chair for ‘Apocalypse,’ but perhaps more intriguingly, word has already surfaced on how it links to “X-Men: Days Of Future Past.” Warning: MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD.

The guys over at FirstShowing got their hands on a recent draft of ‘Days Of Future Past,’ and not only does it reveal who will be playing the entity known as En Sabah Nur, but also that the movie will tie directly to ‘Apocalypose’ in the following manner. Again, big spoilers ahead— here’s what…

The Box Office Got a Little Cold

UPDATED:

Guys I’m very sorry. You might have taken notice that I mentioned I was sick. Actually, I cannot remember the last time I was this sick. So I’m blaming my mistake on my delirium. This is actually Frozen’s 3rd week and it’s made $190 Million to date. So my analysis below is way off. I was planning to see Frozen and talk about it with Chad on The MovieByte Podcast tonight, but I am running a high temperature and don’t have a voice. I have no idea if/when I’ll get to see Frozen. Very sorry about my mistake.

The Box Office Got a Little Cold

As most of you will remember (it’s only been a couple weeks), I used to post a weekly feature every Monday called The Box Office Report. The problem for me was that it was starting to feel routine and boring for me so I quit. But I’m going to sort of bring it back. I’m no longer going to feel obligated to post the top 8, but instead I’ll post about what I think is fun, what I care about, and/or what is important. So lets get started:

#1 - Frozen

Everyone is talking about what a great film Frozen is and the fact that it beat out The Hunger Games and Thor: The Dark World, but I think…

Third ‘Star Trek’ Reboot Story Gets 2 New Writers

Third ‘Star Trek’ Reboot Story Gets 2 New Writers
The Hollywood Reporter

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have been tapped to write Star Trek 3[sic] for Paramount and Skydance Productions.

The duo will join Roberto Orci, who co-wrote the first two installments of the reboot with partner Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. Orci is working without Kurtzman on this one.

The next Star Trek film is untitled and unscheduled, but Paramount and Skydance are hoping to have a film in time for the franchise to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016. Stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are expected to return.

Since Abrams will also not be directing due to him…

About ‘The Hobbit’ Extended Edition

About ‘The Hobbit’ Extended Edition
Emily Asher-Perrin - TOR.com

I’m going to tell you something, and you’re not going to believe me: The Extended Edition of the first Hobbit film, An Expected Journey, is actually better than its theatrical release. I know this seems impossible given that the Extended Editions of Lord of the Rings were not—they were chock full of fun bits that we missed, but they didn’t play as better films. The pacing got all wonky, and they didn’t really move.

The Extended Edition of The Hobbit is different.

I find this extremely hard to believe. I really enjoy the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings, but that’s because while,…

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Trailer

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Trailer

Well, the day is upon us, the day I once again rail on the rebooted Spider-Man franchise. Doggoneit! Why couldn’t they just let this one rest for a little bit? I hated the first installment in this reboot universe so much it’s impossible for me to put it into words. But, many people apparently liked it so a second one is coming to screens. I cannot tell you just how wrong Andrew Garfield seems for this part. I know Toby Maguire takes a lot of flack, but he seemed like the perfect Peter Parker to me. I don’t hate Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, but that doesn’t make up for anything.

To top off my…

What to see, December 6th, 2013

What to see, December 6th, 2013

Things are looking a bit sparse this week in terms of new films. But that’s okay because there’s some seriously great films still in the theater right now. I mean, you’ve got The Hunger Games: Catching FireThor: The Dark WorldThe Book Thief... what more could you need?

New This Weekend

Out of the Furnace — R

There’s a few well known — or at least I know them — names behind this film: Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana, Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe on the acting side, Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio on the producing side of things. Despite those big name, the initial trailer and promos…

A Clip from the Upcoming ‘Veronica Mars’ Film

A Clip from the Upcoming ‘Veronica Mars’ Film

I have never seen a single episode of the TV show but a lot of people sure loved it. And I loved that they went and got crowd funding to put more of something people apparently loved on the screen. While I don’t know anything about the show I can appreciate that. And I can also appreciate that there’s definitely some sarcastic humor going on in this clip — almost (but maybe not quite) of the Joss Whedon sort.

The film was shot in 23 days and is in post production now. It features the same cast returning from the TV show. Veronica returns to her hometown of Neptune, California, after 10 years…

Michael Bay Criticizes His Own Transformers Films

Michael Bay Criticizes His Own Transformers Films
Germain Lussier - /Film

Michael Bay, once again, is his own worst critic.

In 2011, the action director used the word “crap” to describe the mystical storyline ofTransformers: Revenge of the Fallen. At the time, he was confident the third film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, would be better. Fast forward to 2013 and, discussing the upcoming fourth Transformers installment, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bay has once again criticized his previous work, this time saying the third film was “a bit too goofy.”

The full quote come from an set visit done by Yahoo Movies:

I wanted the first Transformers to be very…

Affleck Inserted 9 Minutes into ‘Argo Extended Edition

Affleck Inserted 9 Minutes into ‘Argo Extended Edition

Affleck, fortunately, hasn’t given up acting. In fact, it’s well known that he’ll spend 2014 filming two of Hollywood’s most-anticipated movies: David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, and Zack Snyder’sBatman Vs. Superman. (Psst, he plays Batman.) But before he embarked on those projects, Affleck wanted to revisit Argo one last time. In the new extended edition Blu-ray, in stores today, he reinserted nine minutes of footage that revolve around his character’s family life, fulfilling a promise he made to a now-famous actor whose scenes had been left mostly on the cutting-room…
