‘Les Misérables’ Trailer in Review

‘Les Misérables’ Trailer in Review

This upcoming tear-jerking musical adaptation of the classic is directed by Oscar winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) and scheduled for theatrical release on December 14th, 2012.

This story deserves to be revisited again and again, and this could be the right version to see again and again. With Les Misérables near release, I’m what you could call loosing my mind in anticipation. After the rapturous film that was The King’s Speech by Tom Hooper, no trailer needs to convince me to buy a ticket for opening night of Les Misérables. I’ll be there even if it kills me.

Besides…

‘LUV’ Trailer

‘LUV’ Trailer

Well it seems today is a day for me to post about independent films.

Here’s one I came across that looks pretty interesting. Here’s the synopsis from the Apple Trailers page:

An 11-year-old boy gets a crash course in what it means to be a man when he spends a day with the uncle he idolizes in LUV, a poignant and gritty coming-of-age story featuring standout performances by Common, Danny Glover, Dennis Haysbert, Charles S. Dutton and newcomer Michael Rainey Jr. With his mother in rehab and his father out of the picture, young Woody Watson (Michael Rainey Jr.) lives with his grandmother…

‘The Conspiracy’

‘The Conspiracy’
Slash Film

I don’t know much about the film The Conspiracy at this point, other than the fact that it is playing at Fantastic Fest. That implies a few things about the film that features a documentary crew that is covering the theories of one seeming conspiracy crackpot. But that “crackpots” disappears, the crew starts to think there might be more to the theories than they’d initially imagined.

While this trailer features some histrionics that are a little difficult to swallow out of context, there are also some very effective, unsettling scenes here. Writer/director Christopher MacBride seems to…

‘Looper’ Behind the Scenes Featurette (with video)

‘Looper’ Behind the Scenes Featurette (with video)

If you weren’t looking forward to Looper, perhaps I can help with that. I mean, you would be crazy because who doesn’t want to see a film with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis?

But just in case you weren’t looking forward to it, here’s a behind the scenes featurette. My favorite part is Joseph Gordon-Levitt saying, “Of course he gets the better of me, he’s Bruce Willis.”

It’s hard not to get my expectations up, though I typically like a film better when I don’t. But I am greatly looking forward to this one.

‘Lincoln’ by Spielberg Releases an Official Trailer

‘Lincoln’ by Spielberg Releases an Official Trailer

I’m thinking the movie is going to be the sort of movie I have been anticipating. It will tell a story of Lincoln the way we want to be told he was — not necessarily how he actually was.

It’s very difficult to address historical figures. Someone like Lincoln is still relatable to Americans today. We see his image on our currency, and we hear stories of his kindness, honesty, and sincerity. We are glad to quickly overlook that this president made the country go to war with itself. Obviously it could not have been an easy choice (or his first choice), but it still gives me pause enough to…

New ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Trailer

New ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Trailer
Movie Line

Children of the Nintendo generation, take heed: Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph was made just for you. In addition to setting up a rather compelling hero’s journey for video game character Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) — an arcade villain who goes “game-hopping” to reinvent himself as the good guy — the animated adventure stuffs in more Gen X/Y video game references than you can count. Who will weep for Bowser as he gives his testimony at AA for baddies!?

This really looks like a lot of fun actually. I’m getting a little tired of the major studios going down nostalgia lane, but I’ll…

Hangout with Steven Spielberg Announced for ‘Lincoln’

Hangout with Steven Spielberg Announced for ‘Lincoln’

Steven Speilberg’s been hard at work to bring to us another award-winning biopic. This time, what with Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, he is bound to create quite a buzz with the film and stir up age-old controversy and worship for the 16th president of these United States of America.

It’s practically impossible to imagine that Lincoln will not reflect a highly subjective viewpoint of Abe. Some will be very happy with the American spirit and glorification of their “patron saint of freedom.” While one would expect history buffs to be the target audience of Spielberg’s film, it’s…

‘Breaking Dawn’ Part 2

‘Breaking Dawn’ Part 2

Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s Twilight. But please, let me explain.

When I was younger, I used to read quite a bit. I was never really the “ravenous” reader, but I read a lot. As I grew up and started working, started making money, and started a family, my time for reading became almost none existent. But a few years ago I discovered a new way to read — audio books.

My wife was a long time fan of the Harry Potter books and she got me into it by getting me the audio book for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I was hooked. I listened to the entire series during my commutes, on trips, and…

New ‘Cloud Atlas’ Trailer

New ‘Cloud Atlas’ Trailer
Entertainment Weekly

Fascinated and confused by that six-minute trailer for Cloud Atlas that hit the internet in late July? Well, there’s a new theatrical trailer for the Wachowski/Wachowski/Tykwer head-trip odyssey that strives to package the movie’s narrative flourishes — multiple timelines, lofty themes, Tom Hanks completely breaking the bank on his wig budget — into a relatively more manageable two and a half minutes. Plenty of new footage awaits you, so watch the trailer below!

The trailer on Entertainment Weekly was pulled from YouTube due to copyright infringement claim (what else is new?).…
