Superbowl TV Spot for ‘Insurgent’

Superbowl TV Spot for ‘Insurgent’

While we’re trotting out the Superbowl trailers, here’s the trailer for the upcoming film, Insurgent. You know, I just didn’t hate the first film: Divergent. And yet, I feel like this film could go either way, and I’m not sure this trailer is doing anything for me. The first trailer didn’t really either for that matter. And we’re getting quite close to that March 20 release date.

Here’s to hoping they’ve got more to come than what they are showing us.

Superbowl TV Spot for ‘Terminator: Genisys’

The general consensus seems to be that this film is going to be awful, the first trailer was awful, and this trailer is awful. I still don’t feel that way about the film. Granted, it may end up being awful. I’m perfectly willing to admit that. But I do think that for the time being, people are being a bit to hard on this upcoming film and its trailers. I’m actually still kind of liking the look of things to come. I’m certainly willing to give this film a chance.

As far as people complaining that the retconning of the timeline (again) is really confusing. No really. People are complaining…

Joss Whedon Talks About ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Joss Whedon Talks About ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
Germain Lussier — /Film

I couldn’t imagine doing this again. It’s enormously hard, and it [will] be, by [the time I would make ‘Avengers 3 & 4’], a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it’s very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe – I love these guys – but it ain’t easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers.

Pretty much what we expected, though it’ll be very interested to see what role he fills…

TV Spots for ‘Jupiter Ascending’

TV Spots for ‘Jupiter Ascending’

Don’t forget that next week we’ll finally get to see the delayed Jupiter Ascending. This is one of those films that I really want to be good and expect it to be bad. I like the look of everything I’ve seen about the film so far. And don’t get me wrong when I say I expect it to be bad. I don’t have nearly as many red flags about this film as I did about Cloud Atlas. But there are a few red flags — chief among them being that the film was delayed until February by the studio. Why would they do that? February is not usually where studios shove their good films off to.

Still, I’m going to go to…

The ‘Fantastic Four’ Trailer — “With Every New Risk, There Are Consequences”

The ‘Fantastic Four’ Trailer — “With Every New Risk, There Are Consequences”

I was a fan of the 2005 installment in the Fantastic Four franchise. It was pretty good stuff in an age with comic book films were different than they are now. I was less a fan of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. It was a lousy follow-up to a great film and it essentially killed that version of the franchise. These things happen.

Now we have a reboot with out Steve Rogers Chris Evans. In fact, the only face I recognized in this reboot was Kate Mara’s as Sue Storm. Everyone else is new to me. That could be good or bad and it all depends.

For whatever it’s worth, Fox is the studio…

New ‘Jetsons’ Movie Is Being Written

New ‘Jetsons’ Movie Is Being Written
Germain Lussier — /Film

Everyone’s favorite futuristic family, The Jetsons, have been around for a while. They started in the Sixties, had a movie made back in 1990 and, over the past few years, several people – including Kanye West – have been thinking about making another. Well, the needle is moving once again on a new Jetsons movie and, this time, it’s a lot more believable. Warner Bros. has hired Matt Lieberman to penning a screenplay to a new animated feature.

There are many kids franchises that I think fondly of and have strong feelings and memories of from my youth. This is not one of them. I’m just not…

‘Monopoly’ Movie Will Be Sort of Like ‘The Goonies’

‘Monopoly’ Movie Will Be Sort of Like ‘The Goonies’
Adam Chitwood — Collider

Steve recently spoke with producer Randall Emmett, whose independent production company Emmett/Furla Films acquired the rights to Monopoly from Hasbro, and during the course of their conversation he provided a status update on the film.  He revealed that shooting begins this summer, a big cast and director announcement is coming soon, and the Goonies-esque story involves a treasure map and revolves around a bunch of kids being chased by an adult.

What is even happening here? Who thought this was a good idea? No, no, no, no, no…

Nicolas Cage to Star in Osama Bin Laden Satire From ‘Borat’ Director

Nicolas Cage to Star in Osama Bin Laden Satire From ‘Borat’ Director
Pamela McClintock — The Hollywood Reporter

Borat director Larry Charles is back in action with Army of One, a satirical comedy from Endgame Entertainment and Conde Nast Entertainment starring Nicolas Cage as a regular guy who goes on a hunt for Osama Bin Laden.

In a coup for the producers, Harvey and Bob Weinstein have struck a preemptive deal for North American rights to the project via their new TWC-Dimension label, designed to be a home for more commercially minded fare that both brothers believe in.

Army of One is loosely based on Chris Heath‘s GQ magazine article recounting the real-life misadventures of Gary Faulkner, a…

Simon Pegg Will Co-Write Next ‘Star Trek’ Film

Simon Pegg Will Co-Write Next ‘Star Trek’ Film
Kayla Iacovino — TrekMovie.com

It was just confirmed by Deadline that Simon Pegg (JJ Trek’s Scotty) and Doug Jung (creator of the TNT series Dark Blue) will co-write the script for the next Star Trek film. This comes on the heals of the exit of Bob Orci and the announcement that Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 6) will take on the director’s chair for the third film in the new franchise.

So that’s kind of weird. But I like Pegg and I could see it working out well. But, I do think that means we may bet a bit more humor than we really want in a Star Trek film. I could be wrong.

RUMOR: Spider-Man to Appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1’

RUMOR: Spider-Man to Appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1’
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

WARNING! Major potential spoilers ahead.

Latino Review is reporting that an agreement has been reached and Spider-Man, instead of appearing in ‘Civil War,’ will now swing into “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.” This is where the spoilers come into play. First, ‘Civil War’ will conclude with Steve Rogers being killed by Crossbones. “Thor: Ragnarok” will find our titular hero imprisoned, and Iron Man’s future post-‘Civil War’ is in question, so essentially this leaves a lot of room for Spider-Man to join the Avengers. This scenario posits a new ‘Avengers’ lineup after this year’s film, with…
