Mr. Peabody’s Empire Rises From a Hotel — What to see this weekend

Mr. Peabody’s Empire Rises From a Hotel — What to see this weekend

I know which one of the three new film I would like to watch this weekend. Unfortunately I’m trying to be the “good guy” and acquiesce to the needs and desires of my esteemed MovieByte Podcast co-host. Chad has absolutely no desire to see 300: Rise of an Empire. Of the three I think I would enjoy it the most. Mr. Peabody and Sherman would be my second choice I suppose. But this isn’t all about me (sadly enough).

New This Weekend

300: Rise of an Empire — R

Starring Eva Green looking evil, ludicrously tall evil “god” king, water, ships, and slow motion! To be honest I don’t think the first…

‘Annie’ Remake Starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Cameron Diaz, and Jamie Foxx

‘Annie’ Remake Starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Cameron Diaz, and Jamie Foxx

I have seen Annie, I am quite certain of it. But I remember absolutely nothing about it. I do know that it was a broadway musical.

Well, it is apparently time for a remake — and that remake is still going to be a musical. To be honest, I almost didn’t click through and watch the trailer when I saw the headline. But I am really glad I did. This film actually looks quite good (my wife thinks so too, which I’ll take as confirmation that I’m not going crazy). I have a feeling though that there will be many that love the Broadway Musical, and will therefore hate this film on principle.

The film…

Will There Be a ‘RoboCop’ Sequel?

Will There Be a ‘RoboCop’ Sequel?
Sean O’Connell — Cinema Blend

Box Office Mojo reports that after this weekend, Padilha’s reboot has crossed the $51 million mark, domestically. Here’s a number, though, that will really turn your head. RoboCop has banked $136 million overseas. Which means, globally, the reboot is fast approaching the $200 million mark.

That’s sequel money.

Need a comparison? Liam Neeson’s Taken, widely considered a massive hit (and a movie that inspired at least one sequel), ended up with $226.8 million worldwide. Sony’s own reboot of the 21 Jump Street series also banked $201.6 million internationally. 22 Jump Street opens in…

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ TV Spot

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ TV Spot

We’re one month away from the debut of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so naturally it’s time to start getting excited! Marvel has gone out of it’s way with the misinformation campaign on the last couple of films and I have no reason to believe this film is any different. And there’s one line in this little spot that makes me think they’re letting a hint of something slip. If you’ve seen the past trailers and seen me talking about the possible spoilery details then you’ll know to what I’m refering. The whole spoiler thing that happened in the last full length trailer could be an…

Scarlett Johansson’s Pregnancy Effect on ‘Avengers 2’

Scarlett Johansson’s Pregnancy Effect on ‘Avengers 2’
Angie Han — /Film

It was revealed yesterday that the 29-year-old is expecting her first child with fiancé Romain Dauriac. And while we wish her and her family all the best, we can’t help wondering how this might affect Black Widow’s future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now it looks like we have our answer.

According to E! News, Johansson is due in August, meaning she’s about four months along already. Johansson’s baby bump hasn’t been obvious, but it will be soon. As it gets bigger, it’s only going to get more difficult to keep that hidden under the Black Widow’s signature leather catsuits.

So the…

Zack Snyder Addresses ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Casting Criticisms

Zack Snyder Addresses ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Casting Criticisms
Adam Chitwood - Collider

We all know what TJ’s opinion of last year’s Man of Steel is. I, on the other hand, enjoyed it well enough, though it certainly had its problems. That being said, I’m actually looking forward to the sequel film, unofficially titled/referred to as Batman vs. Superman

Of course, the talk of the town are the casting choices made so far, with both the selections of Ben Affleck as Batman (affectionately referred to as “Batfleck”) and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor receiving much criticism from fans around the world. Rest assured (?), friends, director Zack Snyder is here to quell your fears in…

New Take on ‘Veronica Mars’ ‘We Used To Be Friends’ Theme

New Take on ‘Veronica Mars’ ‘We Used To Be Friends’ Theme
Lindsey Bahr — Entertainment Weekly

Any true Marshmallow knows the rest of the words. The rousing 2003 Dandy Warhols tune “We Used to Be Friends” underscored the opening credits of Veronica Mars throughout its three seasons on the air. Even though it had a radio life outside of the show (it was even used on an episode of The O.C.!), the song belongs to Veronica Mars. Like all great theme songs, it has become indistinguishable from the show itself.

But Veronica and the rest of the gang have evolved in the past decade, and a new era in the world of our favorite sleuth warrants a new take on the song. On the eve of the movie’s…

The Opening Scene from The ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie

The Opening Scene from The ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie

The Veronica Mars movie will be released on March 14th, but if that’s too long for you to wait, we’ve got the opening sequence right here right now for you.

I have finally just finished season 1 of the show and have started on season 2. I like it for the most part and I love the look of this opening sequence. And while I’m looking forward to the film, I really want to get through all the episodes before I see it so I don’t know when I’ll get to see the film.

Here’s the opening sequence.

‘The Muppets’ Sequel Song

‘The Muppets’ Sequel Song

Bringing The Muppets back to the big screen in 2011 was nothing short of a rousing success. So it’s no surprise that they’re back this year. And by all accounts, it looks like it’s going to be great.

In this video we get to see the Muppets singing and dancing and cracking jokes at their own expense and telling us how sequels are never as good as the original and it’s just wonderful.

‘Fast & Furious 7’ Resumes Shooting in April

‘Fast & Furious 7’ Resumes Shooting in April
Angie Han — /Film

With a new script, a new release date, and a new plan for working around Paul Walker‘s passing, Fast & Furious 7 is finally getting ready to resume production.

Universal is gearing up to start filming again in Atlanta, where the high-speed actioner had been shooting before Walker’s death.

THR reports that cast and crew are preparing to shoot in Atlanta “on or near” April 1. That gives director James Wan and the studio about one year to complete the movie, which is scheduled to open April 10, 2015. About six to eight weeks of filming remain.

It will be interesting to see how they’ve…
