Honest Trailer for ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’

Honest Trailer for ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’

If there was ever a film that deserved the Honest Trailer treatment, it’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Ugh. 5 years later and I still want a refund.

Boy you said it trailer dude. My only complaint is that it’s just not quite the same with this new voice over guy. I miss the old one. Still, I got more than a few giggles out of this one.

Jimmy Olsen is… A Girl?

Jimmy Olsen is… A Girl?
/Film

Comic Book Movie noticed that IMDb lists Buller as playing a character named “Jenny Olsen,” with no listing for Jimmy Olsen in sight. IMDb isn’t always 100% accurate, but they get things right more often than not. Supporting this theory is a scene from the latest trailer, which shows Buller running away from an explosion with Laurence Fishburne, who plays Perry White. If this woman isn’t Man of Steel‘s Jimmy Olsen replacement, she seems at least to be a Daily Planet staffer of some sort.

Well, that’s sort of an interesting development. I’m not sure how I feel about that. But then, while…

Gangster Squad — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
Gangster Squad

“I’m not an educated man, but I have wits in history. Every kingdom comes of blood, every castle’s built on a pile of bones. When I came out here, L.A. was nothin’. Back east I was a gangster… out here, I’m god.”

Gangster Squad is the best film I’ve seen this year. Of course, the year is young so that’s not saying a lot. Still, it’s a fine film in my book.

There are those who would disagree with me. In fact, as of right now on Rotten Tomatoes, the Tomatometer is at a measly 33%. And only 66% from the audience. That’s not exactly killing it.

Roger Ebert was not overly fond of the…

Juicy Tidbits about ‘Iron Man 3’

Juicy Tidbits about ‘Iron Man 3’
MTV.com

“So much of the journey of ‘Iron Man 3’ is informed by Tony’s experiences in ‘The Avengers,’” Feige told MTV. “It’s almost like post-traumatic stress: he really has retreated after the events of ‘The Avengers’ into his workshop, where he’s building advanced versions of his suits. He has [designed] a version of the suit that can latch onto him in individual pieces ... anytime, anywhere. As he starts to realize, it’s basically because he doesn’t want to be out of the suit: he’s seen a lot of things in ‘Avengers’ and has encountered a lot of powerful people, much more powerful than he…

‘Revolution’ Animated Webisodes

‘Revolution’ Animated Webisodes

This isn’t terribly exciting, but if you were enjoying revolution before you, like me, were rudely interupted by the mid-season break, then this might be a tasty little snack to tide you over for the meal to come on March 25th.

Starting yesterday, NBC is debuting a new animated webisode every week through February 18. These webisodes are basd on letters written by Sgt. Joseph Wheatly (Reed Diamond), the guy who led Miles (Billy Burke) into the oxygen depleted tunnels toward Philly and into a trab set by Gen. Monroe (David Lyons).

Here’s Episode 1.

‘Defiance’ - Upcoming SyFy Show

‘Defiance’ - Upcoming SyFy Show

I’m not sure how I missed this. Maybe because it’s on SyFy and I’ve pretty much given them up as a bad job. I mean actual sci-fi on SyFy? Say it isn’t so, I thought they had given that up. But this appears to be sci-fi on SyFy, and it may even be good. We’ll have to see.

I found this synopsis from GeekZenith.com:

The show is set in the near future where Aliens known as the Votans come to Earth seeking refuge after their home star system is destroyed. Naturally, when they arrive they are not welcomed by Humans with open arms. Instead, they orbit Earth for 6 years whilst negotiating with…

‘Oblivion’ - First TV Spot

‘Oblivion’ - First TV Spot

Hey look, it’s Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise.

Seriously though, while Tom Cruise can only play certain types of characters, he’s really good at playing those characters and this looks like one of the good ones. Also, MORGAN FREEMAN! What can go wrong?

Jack Harper is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought…

Morning Fun - This is Not Riker’s Beard

Morning Fun - This is Not Riker’s Beard
Arthouse Cowboy

The second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation saw a very important addition to the crew: Commander Riker’s trademark beard. This is not that beard:

I forgot about Data’s short lived attempt at a beard. As I recall, Counsellor Troi could hardly contain herself and had to stifle the giggling as she ran from the room.

Fun stuff.

9 Things We Want from Marvel’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’

9 Things We Want from Marvel’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’
SuperHeroHype

Production on Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel Studios’ first live action television series, is set to begin very soon. As of now, only a pilot has been ordered for the show, but it has gotten a head start on production over other pilots commissioned by ABC and executives will likely have a decision about it before any other new pilots, plus Joss Whedon is already working on stories for additional episodes.

Though it’s not a guarantee at this point, I think it’s a safe bet to assume this will be picked up to series and go on to be a pretty huge hit. The idea of doing a weekly series based…

TV Line’s ‘Fringe’ Series Finale Recap

TV Line’s ‘Fringe’ Series Finale Recap
TV Line

Warning: The following contains massive and dynamic spoilers from the Fringe series finale.

For a moment there, as the Fringe series finale barreled toward a close, you thought it might play out another way.

But it didn’t.

Fun read, with thoughts and observations at the end. I voted for option B in the poll at the bottom. I was not completely blown away with the Series Finale, but I did think it was well above average. I’ve seen a lot of seriously stupid series finales, and this wasn’t one of them. Nothing can quite top the series finale for Stargate SGI, but I was satisfied with…
