Screen Junkies does it again, as usual. So try to hold in the barf as you watch!
Oh, and the part about watching it on your phone or iPad… yeah, don’t do that. I’m not even sure I’ll ever watch it again if I can’t watch it in theater.
Watching this trailer was… interesting. I don’t know what I was expecting from Guardians of the Galaxy, I don’t really have any preconceived notions of what it is since I am totally unfamiliar with it. But somehow I wasn’t really expecting this. It kind of appears to be straight up sci-fi, which strikes me as a little odd from what I was expecting.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Read The RestFrom Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure,…
This week, Chad, Fizz, and TJ talk about RoboCop, both old and new. Tune in as the epic battle ensues over which is better! Also, Find out why you should always return your rentals on time so you don’t go to jail, find out about ‘Back to the Future’ style power laces coming in 2015 — right on time, listen to a little pontificating about ‘House of Cards’, and find out that ‘Black Widow will be getting her own Marvel Movie starring, of course, Scarlett Johansson.
Listen NowRead The RestSouth Carolina woman Kayla Michelle Finley was sent to jail last week for failing to return a copy of the Jennifer Lopez comedy Monster-in-Law that she’d rented nine years ago. Although the store where she originally picked up the tape, Dalton’s Video, has since shut down, the warrant for her arrest never expired.
According to Fox Carolina, Finley, 27, had gone to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office to report an unrelated crime, only to be “shocked and disgusted” when she was arrested for not returning Monster-in-Law in 2005. She was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and spent…
Read The RestTechnically, we’ve still got one year to go before Marty McFly is due to fly in from 1985 in his DeLorean. But so far, it’s not looking all that likely that next year will deliver on the oddly ’80s-ish future promised in Back to the Future Part II. There are no hoverboards in the streets, the Jaws frachise stalled after four installments, and fax machines are growing more obsolete by the day.
Still, there’s at least one detail that’s sure to come true if Tinker Hatfield has anything to do with it. The Nike designer has revealed that power laces are indeed coming in 2015, just as Back to the…
I don’t watch these guys religiously, but occasionally I’ll find a link to a good episode such as this one.
This time, they explore the idea that everything Joss Whedon does is connected. It’s a little more dubious than the Pixar is all connected theory, but it’s still quite fun. Also funny.
You should beware that there is a little bit of course language in this.
And here is where I’m going to get into unforgivable trouble I’m afraid — at least according to some people. Unlike the original RoboCop, I really enjoyed this film.
I believe that, when you look across the films of history that stand the test of time, the focus is almost always on the story and the characters. My issue with the original film is that they didn’t focus too much on the story and characters. In fact, as I argued, they never really figured out what to focus on.
This modern remake is actually quite refreshing in that regard. The story has been almost entirely re-imagined from…
Read The ReviewThere is a part of me that does not want to write this. For whatever reason, RoboCop seems to be a beloved classic. I really don’t fully comprehend why. Admittedly, near future is one of the hardest types of sci-fi to do. In some ways, far future sci-fi is much easier to write because you can kind of let your imagination go wild, and if you write about a period of time that is well beyond your lifetime, it will be a long time before your stuff doesn’t really work. But the sci-fi is only one of the problems with RoboCop.
So obviously I didn’t like this film all that much, and this sort of…
Read The ReviewNetflix dealt another hand of Cards on Feb. 14, unveiling all 13 new episodes of the acclaimed original series at once. Some things about the drama haven’t changed: Frank Underwood is as ruthless as ever, his wife Claire is still devastatingly stylish and the politics are still really, really dirty. But there are some new elements in the series’ sophomore season. If you haven’t yet pressed PLAY on Season 2, here are five (semi-spoilery) tidbits to know while you watch.
Good stuff to know here.
I am officially an old man now apparently, because there was just no way I could miss too much…
Read The RestRead The RestWarner Bros.’ The Jungle Book took a hit last month when Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu dropped out over scheduling conflicts, but now it’s back on track with a new director. Ron Howard has entered talks to helm the live-action adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling adventure.
THR reported the news. The Warner Bros. picture is one of two Jungle Book films in the works. Disney’s live-action adaptation has Jon Favreau at the helm, and is set to open October 9, 2015. Warner Bros.’ Jungle Book does not have a release date yet, and it might not for some time — it’s unclear whether Howard would…
