Hal Rudnik Interviews James Gunn About ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Hal Rudnik Interviews James Gunn About ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

I’m not really a huge fan of Hal Rudnik, but he managed to not be too annoying during this interview and it’s certainly worth it to get a few nuggets from James Gunn about Guardians.

I’ll also just mention that I agree with Gunn’s assessment of his own film’s weakness of not having enough of the villain.

Enjoy.

Jonathan Frakes is Interested in the ‘Star Trek’ Director’s Chair

Jonathan Frakes is Interested in the ‘Star Trek’ Director’s Chair
Jared Whiteley — TrekMovie.com

Just yesterday, Jonathan Frakes announced that he loves the twitter campaign and would be thrilled to direct the next Star Trek movie. While he has not responded on Twitter, he did give an interview to KOMO News Radio, wherein he said:

Hashtag, BringInRiker! I’m all over it. I’m all over it. … I say, unabashedly, I’d be great at it and would love to do it. … I’m trying to keep the lid on how excited I am about the possibility, knowing it’s such a long shot. But there’s nothing I would like better.

I’m very interested in this. Frakes directed two great Star Trek (TNG era) films. And…

The ‘Agents of ‘SHIELD’ Ace in the Hole — A Female Superhero

The ‘Agents of ‘SHIELD’ Ace in the Hole — A Female Superhero
Joanna Robinson — Vanity Fair

This is a recap of Season 2, Episode 10 of Agents of S.H.I.E.LD., titled “What They Become.” If you don’t want to be spoiled, stop reading now.

The phrase “game-changing” gets way overused in film and TV writing but, sorry folks, the game has changed. In last night’s mid-season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel revealed that the entire time we’ve been clamoring for a female superhero, there’s been one growing right under our noses.

As it turns out, Chloe Bennett’s Agent Skye, the ordinary hacker whose recruitment into S.H.I.E.L.D. kicked off the ABC series last year, was actually a…

Trailer for Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’

Trailer for Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’

I think it’s safe to say that this doesn’t look at all like anything Pixar has ever done before — and that’s probably a good thing. While I still have my doubts about this project, I did find this trailer hillarious even if I would find the actual situation, if it were taking place in real life, repulsive. We all wonder sometimes what’s going on in someone else’s brain and this film is going to set out to answer that question in what looks to be a pretty clever and funny way.

And this film is actually just around the corner. It will arrive on June 19th. As always with Pixar, I look forward…

‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ Red Band Trailer

‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ Red Band Trailer

I don’t often post red band trailers on MovieByte, but since I’ve been pretty public here about looking forward to this film and recommending it in a way, I wanted you all to know what you’re getting in to.

I still think the film looks like great fun, and it’s certainly not going to take itself too seriously.

It will be out in theaters on February 13.

Honest Trailer: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Honest Trailer: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Oh man! I nearly split a gut on this one. This just proves that even the best of movies can be made fun of. It is funny the connections that you can make to other Marvel characters, but it’s a sign of how well done it is that I never made the connection before or maybe I just never cared to make the connection.

So buckle up for the Honest Trailer about “The Space Avangers”.

Moustache Twirling

Moustache Twirling

Joe and TJ are joined for this very special episode of the show by a very special guest — Jim Metzendorf — to discuss one of the great classics of our time, ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’. No matter what George Lucas has done or continues to do, he did give us this great film and we shall forever be grateful. So tune in to have some great fun and a lot of analysis (and over-analysis as well) of a dearly beloved film. The guys also talk about Roberto Orci leaving the director’s chair for the upcoming ‘Star Trek’ Film, TNG’s ‘All Good Things’ stand-alone Blu-ray release, Evangeline Lilly’s statements about ‘Ant Man’ and Edgar Wright, and the first trailer for ‘Terminator Genisys’.

Just How Fast is The Millennium Falcon?

Just How Fast is The Millennium Falcon?
Chris Lough — TOR.com

So how fast is the Millennium Falcon’s hyperdrive, anyway?

We know—unlike Obi-Wan Kenobi, seriously wizard don’t you read SmugglerFeed?—that this is the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. But we also know that a parsec is a measure of distance, and since Han doesn’t specify how long it took the Falcon to make this sub-12 parsec shortcut, we don’t actually get an idea as to how fast the ship can go.

Oh, but she’ll do “.5 past light speed” which…doesn’t tell us much either. Obviously ships in the Star Wars galaxy can go faster than light speed otherwise there’d be no…

Sand People Are Bad Shots

Sand People Are Bad Shots

The output from the HISHE team has been less this year it seems, but they do occasionally drop some greatness on us. Given that Joe and I are going to be talking Star Wars with Jim Metzendorf this evening when we record The MovieByte Podcast, this one is pretty timely and addresses something that’s always bothered me. The Stormtroopers are supposed to be the elite soldiers of the empire, and yet most of the time it seems like they can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Worse, Obi-Wan Kenobi points out to Luke at the beginning of A New Hope that the blast points are “too accurate” for sand… Read The Rest
