Adam Sandler Reaches Four Picture Deal with Netflix
Rodrigo Perez — The Playlist

…this evening the streaming video company announced another bold move with with respect to original movie programming: a four-picture deal with Adam Sandler. Sandler will star and produce four untitled movies for Netflix exclusively.

“People love Adam’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages —everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line— not just in the U.S. but all over the world,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a press release.

In general I’m all in favor of Netflix disrupting the…

‘Inside Out’, A Major “Emotion” Picture

‘Inside Out’, A Major “Emotion” Picture

Has Pixar ever done a trailer like this? I may be wrong but I don’t remember it. The majority of the trailer is clips from other Pixar films. These clips, along with the help of onscreen text, show us the range of emotions and feelings PIxar has been through in their many films over the years. It then concludes with introducing us to some actual footage and characters from the upcoming film.

It felt very odd and frankly, I don’t think I liked it. There was something very distinctly back patting about this approach. There is a time and place in marketing messages to gently remind us of the…

Why I Want to Be Left Behind

Why I Want to Be Left Behind
Joshua Ryan Butler — The Christian Post

The rapture is new to the Christian scene. It arose in the late 1800’s, when Margaret MacDonald, a fifteen-year-old Scottish girl, claimed to have it revealed to her in a vision. Her vision was then picked up and popularized by the famous British preacher J.N. Darby, during his extensive travels in America.

All love to the high school prom queen and traveling street preacher, but this is a suspiciously short track record for nearly 2000 years of Christian theology.

You must go read all of this right now. And please, whatever you do, do not give money to this monstrosity of a film known by…

‘Interstellar’ — Trailer 4

‘Interstellar’ — Trailer 4

The buzz around this film is now so strong I keep feeling like a very angry swarm of tracker jackers is descending upon me. But, it turns out it’s just marketing, mixed with serious emotions seemingly spiraling out of control.

Seriously though, I do worry about how I will view this film. I try to be very cognizant of my biases and influences. I try to understand why I do or do not like something. I have a bad feeling that this film’s hype may be surpassing my ability to control and counteract in my own mind. That said, this trailer — what is being reported to be the final trailer we will see…

‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ Trailer 2

‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ Trailer 2

While I prepare myself for nothing but the deepest disappointment from this film, I cannot help but to be quite excited by this trailer. Some Christians are going to scoff and point fingers at this point, but I think it’s too early for that. For instance I can see that some will say that Moses is delivering God’s word to Pharaoh in quite an arrogant and unbecoming way and having conversations with him that are not recorded in the Bible. Well, that’s true, but I don’t think we should deny the fact that there may have been (and most certainly were) events that transpired that are not recorded…

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Concludes a “Trilogy” That Started With ‘First Class’

UPDATED:

The original headline to this article mistakenly said “That Started With ‘Days of Future Past’”. That was a complete mistype on my part. The trilogy obviously started with ‘X-Men: First Class’.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Concludes a “Trilogy” That Started With ‘First Class’
Germain Lussier — Film

Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg and the whole team are hard at work in pre-production on X-Men: Apocalypse. Filming starts this April up in Montreal for a summer 2016 release. The film will be set in the ’80s, following the old timeline from the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past with the stars of that movie returning: Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and more. It’ll be the biggest X-Men movie yet, introducing the character Apocalypse.

In a new interview, Kinberg suggests the new film might be the end of that story. The writer and producer says the creative time is looking…

“Quote from Satan” on Latest ‘Left Behind’ Poster

“Quote from Satan” on Latest ‘Left Behind’ Poster
Jonathon Dornbush — Entertainment Weekly

From what’s been revealed thus far, Left Behind appears to have two key qualities of a classic Nicolas Cage film: All the dialogue is either whispered or screamed, and everything in the movie is on fire. But in case that wasn’t enough to attract audiences, the film’s promotional campaign has enlisted the help of the prince of evil whose entire world is on fire — Satan.

Opening this Friday, Oct. 3, Left Behind tells the story of the biblical Rapture, in which millions of people have disappeared. Remaining groups of survivors attempt to recover from the ensuing chaos, including a pilot played…

‘Tak3n’ Trailer

‘Tak3n’ Trailer

They took his daughter and sold her as a sex slave, then they took his wife, then they took him. Now it looks like they’re taking Bryan Mills’ freedom and charging him with murder. Ahh, but he is obviously being framed so, let the games begin.

This third entry in the Taken franchise was written and is being produced by Luc Besson, and the directorial duties fall to one of his protégés, Olivier Megaton.

I have no particular interest in this film, but I do have hope that perhaps it can be better than the second film, which didn’t always make a lot of sense and was not nearly as good as the…

‘Interstellar’ Is Christopher Nolan’s Longest Runtime Yet

‘Interstellar’ Is Christopher Nolan’s Longest Runtime Yet
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

This fall, prepare to get your mind blown, eyes dazzled and….bladder tested. “Interstellar” is coming, and the buzz is getting louder and louder, with each new detail being scrutinized… and here’s another!

The runtime has been revealed for Christopher Nolan‘s latest film, and it’s his longest yet: “Interstellar” will run 2 hours and 49 minutes. That said, it’s only five minutes longer than “The Dark Knight Rises,” and the filmmaker knows how to keep things moving, so you likely won’t be looking at your watch.

Honestly, this worries me. It is very rare that I feel a film over about 2:15…

‘Interstellar’ Extended TV Spot

‘Interstellar’ Extended TV Spot

Anybody else getting more and more excited for this one? I feel like I’m going to be let down just because I’m so high on the hype, not because the film is or will be bad.

this trailer gives us several more glimpses of what is to come. While earlier trailers focused much more on earth and the leaving of earth, this trailer shows us that probably at least half the movie takes place off of the planet earth. The story of our primary protagonist, Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) appears to be a compelling one. For instance, if you had to choose between your family and a dying planet, or piloting a…
