‘Star Trek V’ at 25

‘Star Trek V’ at 25
Steve Vivona — TrekMovie.com

Trek V was a gross miscalculation on almost every level. Trek IV was funny and hugely successful so the mandate was to bring the funny again. Some of the humor works. Some of it is simply juvenile. Going after God. Really? Haven’t we done the Supreme Being thing already guys? God never works. The non-ILM special effects are from hunger and always take me out of the story.

Then there’s the script. I know I recently accused The Undiscovered Country of numerous plot holes and contrivances, but Trek V is littered with them.

In order for the Enterprise to be successfully hijacked all the…

Studio Wants Singer off ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’?

Studio Wants Singer off ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’?
Devin Faraci — Badass Digest

Bryan Singer came back to the X-Men franchise he started and pretty much hit it out of the park with X-Men: Days of Future Past, a film that was waaaay better than it had any right to be. Could he pull that trick off with X-Men: Apocalypse, a movie that promises to focus on a lamer, later-period X villain and the kind of destruction audiences have begun to tire of seeing? According to Radar Online we may never know.

The gossip site - with a spotty track record, it’s fair to note - is reporting that the studio is trying to push Singer off the project because of his recent legal troubles, ie…

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spot 2

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spot 2

This movie is going to be weird, but in a good way I think. I mean seriously, how weird is a tree and a talking racoon? But totally awesome, right? And it looks like we’re going to get a little bit of everything: space adventure, sci-fi, comic book heroes, crazy, scary, stupid, fun, funny. You name it, I think it’s in this film and I’m going to enjoy every second of it.

Check out the newest TV spot below.

Mark Hamill Voices Joker Vs. Luke Skywalker — Best Thing You’ll See All Day

Mark Hamill Voices Joker Vs. Luke Skywalker — Best Thing You’ll See All Day

Well, this is it folks, this is the best thing you’ll see all day. Mark Hamill appeared at Star Wars Weekends 2014, which is an annual Star Wars celebration at Disney World. While there, he was asked to voice a converstaion between The Joker as Luke’s father, and Luke. You see, Hamill has become sort of known for his voice work of late and one of the roles he has voiced for has been The Joker in animated Batman (and he’s pretty good, I might add).

So, as you might imagine, this is pretty epic and I think I love Mark Hamill a lot more.

Jeremy Renner Coming Back for ‘Mission: Impossible 5’

Jeremy Renner Coming Back for ‘Mission: Impossible 5’
Alex Maidy —  JoBlo

When MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL hit theaters in 2011, Tom Cruise was partnered with then up and coming star Jeremy Renner as part of his IMF team. After the success of that film, the inevitable sequel was announced. While we know MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5 is slated to hit screens next year under the direction of Christopher McQuarrie, no stars have been announced outside of Cruise himself.

In a recent interview with Yahoo, Renner was asked about his upcoming guest appearance on the sitcom LOUIE and if he plans any other small screen gigs in the future. Maybe even a turn on the second…

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spot

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spot

I’m really looking forward to seeing what Marvel has in store for us with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. I don’t expect it to be as good as their other offering this year — Captain America — but I expect it to be a lot of fun.

In this spot, we actually get a “blink and you might miss it” glimpse of Ronan the Accuser — who I know nothing about since I’ve never read these comic books, but apparently, he’s the bad guy… or at least, he often is in the comics though he has been good or moving that way on occasion as I have been led to believe.

This should be a lot of fun.

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Is Certified Fresh At 90%

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Is Certified Fresh At 90%
Tim Ryan — Rotten Tomatoes

On paper, a high-concept blend of Groundhog Day and Starship Troopers sounds like a recipe for disaster. In practice, critics say Edge of Tomorrow is a thoroughly entertaining sci-fi action flick with a sharp sense of humor and muscular acting from Tom Cruise. With the planet under attack from alien invaders, Major William Cage (Cruise) is sent into battle—and killed instantly. However, he finds himself in a time loop, reliving the same battle scenario and gradually discovering how to defeat the enemy. The pundits say the Certified Fresh Edge of Tomorrow is a rare beast—it’s a pulpy,…

Emily Blunt Almost Killed Tom Cruise on ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Set

Emily Blunt Almost Killed Tom Cruise on ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Set

Those women drivers, you just can’t trust them…

I’M KIDDING, I’M KIDDING!

But, apparently Tom’s love of doing all his own stunts is infectious and Emily Blunt wanted to do hers too. As such, she drove a car into a tree with Cruise in the passenger seat. I’ll tell you this, if I were an actor, I would be happy to let the seasoned stunt professionals handle the stunts, that sounds like an awful thing to go through.

Don’t forget that Edge of Tomorrow is in theaters right now and you can go see it. I’ll be seeing it this weekend and it looks amazing!

Fan Reactions To the Upcoming ‘Stargate’ Movie Trilogy

“Sir? We’re here to inform you that you’ve been … reactivated.”

The studio may have an uphill battle on its hands when it comes to convincing millions of Stargate fans around the world to line up for aStargate reboot. What does the world think of the big announcement today from MGM and Warner Bros.? We turned to Twitter for some knee-jerk reactions on Day 1.

Personally, I’m completely torn. I hate that the new trilogy will ignore everything that has come before. I love Stargate as it was and wish to continue in that continuity. This just won’t be the…

J.J. Tweets Photo From ‘Star Wars’ Set, Asks People to Quit Leaking Photos From ‘Star Wars’ Set
@bad_robot

There you have it folks, J.J. wants you to knock it off and quit making ridiculous claims that the Falcon is in this movie. But wait, why would Abrams tweet this as a photo? Look closely. Go ahead, look back up there.

That’s the holo-chess board from inside the Falcon. This may be the greatest things Abrams has ever done. Kathleen Kenedy did promise us that part of the negotiation with Abrams is that the production would be a bit more transparent and not quite Abrams usual mystery box fair.

My personal opinion is that the…
