Last night co-writer/director James Gunn popped onto Facebook (accompanied by Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, and Stephane Ceretti, the VFX supervisor for Marvel) and held a communal screening! How to Train Your Dragon 3 is just one of many DreamWorks Animation films being pushed back as it cuts down its feature film production from three films a year, to two.

Restructuring at DreamWorks Animation will focus the studio’s production on six films in the next three years, which will include one film and one sequel per year.

Kung Fu Panda 3 and Trolls will be released in 2016, Boss Baby and The Croods 2 in 2017, and Larrikins and How to Train Your Dragon 3 (originally scheduled for release in summer 2017) in 2018.

Steve recently spoke with producer Randall Emmett, whose independent production company Emmett/Furla Films acquired the rights to Monopoly from Hasbro, and during the course of their conversation he provided a status update on the film.  He revealed that shooting begins this summer, a big cast and director announcement is coming soon, and the Goonies-esque story involves a treasure map and revolves around a bunch of kids being chased by an adult.

he Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 just became the highest-grossing domestic release of 2014, garnering $333.18 million in box office revenue as of yesterday, bringing the worldwide gross to more than $700 million. The young adult franchise toppled the Marvel/Disney film, which grossed $333.17 million.

It was just confirmed by Deadline that Simon Pegg (JJ Trek’s Scotty) and Doug Jung (creator of the TNT series Dark Blue) will co-write the script for the next Star Trek film. This comes on the heals of the exit of Bob Orci and the announcement that Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 6) will take on the director’s chair for the third film in the new franchise.

So that’s kind of weird. But I like Pegg and I could see it working out well. But, I do think that means we may bet a bit more humor than we really want in a Star Trek film. I could be wrong.

Fox is prepping a Minority Report TV pilot, intended as a sequel to the 2002 film starring Tom Cruise. However, don’t expect to see Cruise or his character John Anderton, as the pilot is set 10 years after the movie and will focus on one of the “precogs” from the film. In fact, Fox hasn’t announced casting at all, but it has signed on a director: Mark Mylod, known for ABC’sOnce Upon a Time and Showtime’s Golden Globe-winning The Affair.
