Get ready to get your mindless action flick on, because that’s what I expect Pacific Rim to be. Bolstering my opinion in this regard is the 30 second international TV spot that really tells us to expect nothing more than a lot of action and robots and stuff.

Melissa McCarthy knows how to interrogate a suspect in The Heat. You throw “the book” at him!

This film has the potential to be good, funny, goofy, with a side of character development. But I was burned by the last Melissa McCarthy film I saw (my first introduction to her) so I’m a little gun-shy. But, I often like Sandra Bullock’s films so maybe this will be good. There is the potential. But there’s also so much that could go wrong with this film. The only thing for it is to wait and see.

Issue #206 of Total Film magazine features a Joss Whedon interview in what appears to be a huge Marvel-centric issue. In it, Joss talks about Avengers 2, but he also talks a little bit about the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot and how it fits in to the greater Marvel universe.

Young adult franchise hopeful The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones doesn’t open until August 23, but Constantin Films is already working on a prequel.

The company has thrown into development Infernal Devices, an adaptation of the spin-off book series written by Mortal Instruments author Cassandra Clare, and has hired Stephanie Sanditz to write the screenplay.

The pair said that the biggest thing they had to do when writing a movie to lead into The Avengers 2 was make sure the character loyalties were in a specific place. They also discussed how writing on Thor: The Dark World was a different experience, how much The Winter Soldier had changed from its initial outline, and how the sequel will put Captain America in a totally new place. In this clip which aired during the MTV Awards, Tony’s house is blowing up around him while he tries to use a prototype Iron Man suite that appears not to be quite ready, can’t fly, and more.

This clip is really just an extended look at the full scene already shown in trailers of the house being blown up by missiles and helicopters all around him.

Now this is one I’m really looking forward to. Despite some of my irritations with the style of the first film and the characteristics of the filming, I found much more to like than to dislike about the first film (check out my review here, the fourth review ever written for MovieByte). Not the least of which is of course the cultural commentary carrying over the from the books.
