The Faces Behind Disney Villains

The Faces Behind Disney Villains
Stacy Conradt - mental_floss magazine

Ever wonder if the actors who voice the villains are just as mean-looking as their on-screen counterparts? Wonder no more. For the most part, the answer is no—but there are definitely a few uncanny resemblances in the bunch.

This is fun and interesting, but what’s even more interesting: take a look at the year many of these were made. It amazes me that most of the good ones were back in the late 50s/early 60s. There are some good films later, but many of the good ones that we remember Disney for came from back then. I mean think about it. 101 Dalmatians, The Sword in the Stone, The…

How ‘Iron Man 3’ Should Have Ended

How ‘Iron Man 3’ Should Have Ended

“I am Iron Man”

“So Is Jarvis”

Man this is SOOO good. I loved Iron Man 3, but it was definitely full of annoying logical inconsistencies, which the guys behind HISHE thrive on. And I love how Batman and Superman are always showing up in these now.

Of course, I imagine it wouldn’t matter what film it was, if it was the 5th most successful movie of all time, as Iron Man 3 now is, people would be making fun of it. Some people have a problem with videos like this but I love them. I have more of a problem with the Cinema Sins videos, but these HISHE videos have always been great thus…

‘The Blue Umbrella’ Takes a Photoreal Approach

‘The Blue Umbrella’ Takes a Photoreal Approach
Carolyn Giardina - The Hollywood Reporter

Saschka Unseld, the writer and director of Pixar Animation Studio’s latest short, The Blue Umbrella, was walking down a rainy San Francisco street when he found a broken umbrella on the side of the road. “I stopped because it looked like such a sad thing, and rain was pouring on it,” he recalled. “I was feeling sad for an umbrella; I think that stuck with me.”

This random moment inspired a short that follows an emotive umbrella, which makes its theatrical debut on June 21, preceding Pixar’s Monsters University. “Rain is a magical place,” the director said. “I wanted the soul of the film…

‘Man of Steel’ Ads and TV Spots

‘Man of Steel’ Ads and TV Spots

It won’t be long now before we get to see Superman back in action on the big screen in Zack Snyder’s and Christopher Nolan’s grand super-hero vision. In fact we’re only two weeks away from the June 14 premiere. And of course the promotional campaign is working overtime now. I have several TV spots to share with you, and the fun thing is that each of them have something new to offer that we have not seen yet. Obviously it’s mixed in and around things we have already seen before.

So, will Superman defeat General Zod? Will he save the world? Well I mean, come on, you never know, they may mix…

Epic — Review

4 of 5 stars
Epic

I’ll admit, I went into the theater to watch this film with low expectations. Maybe it’s the fact that the production company and guys behind the story were also behind the likes of Ice AgeRobotsRio, and more. It did not instill confidence. And the trailers failed to inspire me. Couple those things with the entirely lackluster promotional campaign and one did not get the sense that this film would be any more than a bit of drivel peppered in amongst the big summer tent polls.

I was therefore exceedingly shocked to walk out of the theater at the end of the credits having thoroughly…

Hugh Jackman Would Love to Team up with ‘The Avengers’

Hugh Jackman Would Love to Team up with ‘The Avengers’
Screen Rant

A quote in the linked article from Hugh Jackman:

You know, obviously we have people from—one of the great things about this movie is that a lot of people from Marvel are here and it seems a lot more inclusive than it has been in the past. I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but I think it’s fantastic. I actually just asked the other day, I said, ‘I don’t know what the legal situation is, but why don’t these companies come together? Why isn’t it possible?’ Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his ass. It’d be great.

How…

The Digital Effects of ‘Iron Man 3’

The Digital Effects of ‘Iron Man 3’
Paul Hellard - CGSociety

“These are always incredibly challenging shows to work on,” says Overall VFX Supervisor for the production Chris Townsend from Los Angeles. “Marvel is famous for chasing the very best movie it can right up to the last minute. So, this is one of the hardest shows I’ve ever done, because of that. The crews had a very compressed schedule, a huge amount of work and this is very complex stuff. We had over 40 suits to build. All digital characters within all digital environments.”

In amongst it all, shooting was delayed when Robert Downey Jnr (RDJ) broke his leg during a shoot day and that…

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Easter Eggs

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Easter Eggs
Matt Wright - TrekMovie.com

Of course Star Trek Into Darkness includes some big homages and reverences to Star Trek history including Khan, Section 31 and beyond which are key parts of the film. But there are also some more subtle ‘easter egg’ references to Star Trek history and beyond included in the film. Some of which you may have already spoted and maybe some you didn’t.

I actually got most of these. The interesting one to me is Praxis. The first thing I thought to myself when I saw the Klingon home world — no, LITERALLY the very first thing I thought — was, “what the heck, why is Praxis already blown up? Did…

Joss Whedon Talks Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (Video)

If you’re like me you may be wondering who on earth these crazy new characters that are supposed to be in The Avengers 2 are. Of course, I’m the guy who didn’t know who Iron Man was, or what The Avengers were, and I barely knew who Captain America was before all these movies started coming out. So maybe all you comic book nerds are sitting there staring blankly at this text I have written right now saying, “Why do I read this guy’s stuff, he’s a neophyte, a complete and utter newb. Well, I admit my knowlege of comic books is very limited so I am discovering these characters from a fresh…
