Will ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Feature The Younger Cast Only?

Will ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Feature The Younger Cast Only?
Russ Fischer — /Film

Until X-Men: Days of Future Past opens, we won’t know who survives and what shape they’re in. But there’s no question that Fox will be making more X-Men movies to follow it, starting with X-Men: Apocalypse. But what about the classic cast — is this year’s film their swan song, with the exception of Hugh Jackman? That’s seemed likely, given past statements from Singer such as “[Apocalypse will]  introduce familiar characters in a younger time,” and the general sense that Apocalypse is a sequel to First Class.

...

[Apocalypse] really follows the ‘First Class’ cast. Meaning it is a sequel…

Is Anna Paquin in ‘Days of Future Past’ or Isn’t She?

Is Anna Paquin in ‘Days of Future Past’ or Isn’t She?
Josh Wilding — ComicBookMovie.com

In an interview with Crave Online, X-Men: Days of Future Past writer and producer Simon Kinberg was asked to clear things up in regards to Anna Paquin’s role in the “inbetweenquel”. Fans were disappointed to learn that the actress had been cut from the movie, although the backlash seemingly led to at least a small part of what was once a significant chunk of screentime being restored. “I just wanted to see Ian [McKellan] and Patrick [Stewart] on a mission together. So I took them away from the main plot of the movie so that they could go off and do something, and [Rogue] was the MacGuffin of…

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Number 1 At Box Office For Third Week

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Number 1 At Box Office For Third Week
Rodrigo Perez — The Playlist

Disney is having a good year. Thanks to the insane success of “Frozen” and their Marvel studios wing, the studio has already crossed the $1 billion mark for 2014 and it’s not even May. Part of that success is thanks to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which spent its third week at the #1 box-office spot. Crossing the $200 million mark domestically, the film added another $26.6 million to its domestic tally (only down 36% from the previous weekend) and banked another $35.3 million overseas for $586 million total worldwide. Could it be one of Marvel’s highest grossing films ever? Maybe,…

Anna Paquin Back in ‘Days Of Future Past’ Plus 3 Featurettes

Anna Paquin Back in ‘Days Of Future Past’ Plus 3 Featurettes

Kevin Jagernauth for The Playlist reports:

Just before Christmas, it was reported that Anna Paquin’s Rogue had been cut from Bryan Singer’s film, but fans rejoice, because it appears she’s back. Sorta. The folks at Buzzfeed noticed her name in the credits of the recent trailer, made a few calls, and have confirmed Paquin is indeed going to appear. “Essentially, [it’s] a cameo,” a rep at the studio said. So keep your eyes open.

While it may be just a cameo, Vulture adds that it’s a pivotal scene to the plot of the movie. What’s more, “three more mutants filmed secret cameos in the film” but…

‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Sequel

‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Sequel
Katie Atkinson — Entertainment Weekly

Cue Aerosmith’s “Dude Looks Like a Lady” on your tape deck: Fox 2000 Pictures is developing a sequel to the 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire. And lest you worry that they’ll cast Zac Efron in the title role (actually, we might watch that movie), the plan is to reunite original star Robin Williams with director Chris Columbus, as The Hollywood Reporter first reported. Elf writer David Berenbaum is attached to pen the script.

“Should we make a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel?”

No.

“But what about…”

OH MY GOSH, NO!

‘Pirates 5’ and ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ Filming This Year

‘Pirates 5’ and ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ Filming This Year
B. Alan Orange — MovieWeb

Last we heard, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth film in the series, has not yet been greenlit by Disney. That hasn’t stopped producer Jerry Bruckheimer from claiming the sequel will be shooting before year’s end. He also claims that Beverly Hills Cop 4 will be up and running by then as well.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was originally set to be released July 10, 2015, in a summer overcrowded with tentpole blockbusters. It was delayed so that directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning could revamp the script byJeff Nathanson.

Samuel L. Jackson To Re-team with Bruce Willis for ‘Die Hard 6’

Samuel L. Jackson To Re-team with Bruce Willis for ‘Die Hard 6’
Ken Guidry — The Playlist

When “A Good Day to Die Hard” came out early last year, it was easily the least successful film of the franchise. The movie was critically reviled and only raked in $67 million in the U.S. box office. You would think 20th Century Foxwould take this as a sign that they should finally put this franchise to rest, but “A Good Day to Die Hard” somehow managed to become an international hit with $237 million alone. So, of course, that means we’re getting a sixth ‘Die Hard’ film.

If you’re a huge fan of the franchise, however, this rumor may actually perk your interest in a sixth ‘Die Hard’ film.…

Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter’: Coming to ABC?

Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter’: Coming to ABC?
Angie Han — /Film

Although Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has not officially been renewed, Deadline‘s spies indicate that a Season 2 pickup may come along with a series order for Agent Carter. The two shows could air simultaneously next year, with Agent Carter taking over the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.timeslot when the latter goes on its winter hiatus.

Agent Carter originated as a Marvel One-Shot released as a special feature on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray.

I really liked Peggy Carter as a character and I’m a little put out with myself that I still haven’t seen the One-Shot to feature her. I need to make that a top…

‘Allegiant’ (The Final Book/Film in the ‘Divergent’ Trilogy) Will Be Split Into Two Films

‘Allegiant’ (The Final Book/Film in the ‘Divergent’ Trilogy) Will Be Split Into Two Films
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

If there’s one thing Lionsgate/Summit have figured out, it’s how to milk YA franchises for all they’re worth. When it came time to say goodbye to “Twilight,” the studio decided to grab money from the fans twice, by extending “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” into two films.

That is a really unfair assessment. I know I’ve talked about this before, but the Twilight books actually have a decent plot mixed in with all the googly eyes lovey dovey gaggy romance. I have said before that the first three books could be condensed into two, maybe one by cutting out all the awful romancy description of…
