Universal Halts ‘Fast & Furious 7’

Universal Halts ‘Fast & Furious 7’
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Remember how I posted earlier this week that Fast & Furious 7 would be moving forward? Well, not so fast apparently:

The death of Paul Walker — an obviously key figure in the mega-sequel (and franchise) “Fast & Furious 7” — makes the future of the movie and series completely unclear. Production on the James Wan directed movie was supposed to continue this week in Atlanta following the Thanksgiving holiday, and additional filming with the entire cast in Abu Dhabi in January. Clearly, things are in flux and while this past weekend a conference call between suits and director tried to figure…

‘Fast & Furious 7’ Will Be Going Ahead

‘Fast & Furious 7’ Will Be Going Ahead
Ben Child - The Guardian

Paul Walker’s final Fast & Furious film remains on course for a cinema release, despite the death of its 40-year-old star in a road accident on Saturday.

Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that production on Fast & Furious 7 would be delayed, with the shoot in Atlanta unlikely to resume until today or tomorrow at the earliest. There were no plans to abandon the film, for which Walker had shot the majority of his scenes. However, the cast were due to travel to Abu Dhabi in January for an additional shoot and the movie was likely to be delayed beyond its planned July 2014 release…

Abrams Says Hiding Khan’s Identity was Probably a Mistake

Abrams Says Hiding Khan’s Identity was Probably a Mistake

In a recent interview with MTV, Abrams talks frankly about withholding the Khan reveal (he went as far as complete and outright denial):

The truth is I think it probably would have been smarter just to say upfront ‘This is who it is.’ It was only trying to preserve the fun of it, and it might have given more time to acclimate and accept that’s what the thing was.

The truth is because it was so important to the studio that we not angle this thing for existing fans. If we said it was Khan, it would feel like you’ve really got to know what Star Trek is about to see this movie. That would have…

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Upsets Hindu Groups (oh brother)

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Upsets Hindu Groups (oh brother)
Kevin Melrose - ComicBookResources.com

A Hindu group has called on ABC to apologize following an episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that suggested the god Vishnu, like the hero Thor, might be an alien.

In the Nov. 19 episode, which tied into the events of Thor: The Dark World, Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and hacker Skye (Chloe Bennett) have an exchange designed to deliver exposition about the Asgardians, who in the Marvel Universe are ancient aliens who were mistaken for gods when they visited Earth thousands of years ago. “Do you think other deities are aliens, too?” Skye asks. “Vishnu for sure, right?”

Could you…

A slew of interesting new details have come to surface for the impending sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which has Johnny Depp signed to return as Captain Jack Sparrow for a fifth time.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Keith Richards will return as the pirate Captain Teague, who also happens to be Jack’s biological father. The pair will team up to battle Captain Brand in a search for a mythical trident.

While Disney has not confirmed any of this, Django Unchained’s Christoph Waltz is reportedly interested in taking on the villainous role of Captain Brand.

Actor Paul Walker — a self-styled adrenaline junkie best known for his role in “The Fast and the Furious” movies — was killed Saturday in a fiery single-car wreck in Southern California.

The 40-year-old Walker was riding in a red Porsche GT about 3:30 p.m. when the sports car flew off the road and slammed into a tree in Santa Clarita, authorities and witnesses said. The car burst into flames.

‘Catching Fire’ Breaks Thanksgiving Records
Diana Drumm - The Playlist

Blazing at the box office, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” shot out the other tributes and made a whopping $74.5 million this weekend, part of an even more eye-popping $110.1 million for the five-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend (shattering the $82.4 million record set by “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”).

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and that NC-17 Avoidance

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and that NC-17 Avoidance
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

THR reports that Martin Scorsese’s upcoming epic—with the trade also confirming recent reports that it runs 2 hours and 59 minutes—was initially returned with an NC-17 rating thanks to “abundant, explicit sex (not to mention drugs).” Of course, no major studio movie is ever going to get released with an NC-17, so trims, cut and edits were made (though it’s not clear how extensive they were) to ensure the movie got an R rating, and it seems everyone is happy (or at least not making their concerns public).

That quite can’t be said for Evan Rachel Wood who heatedly took to Twitter this week to…

The Giving of Thanks

The Giving of Thanks

It may be an obvious thing to most, but I thought it worth mentioning. Tomorrow (Thursday) is the national holiday of Thanksgiving here in these United States. It’s when we take a little time out to spend with family and friends, and remember what we are thankful for. The tradition is in honor of The Pilgrims who came to what is now the U.S. back in the early 1600s. And even though they had very little, they were very thankful for that which they had. It’s a good tradition to pause and take stock of what you have and give thanks and so I love to do it. Plus, you know, FOOD! And family, that’s…
