‘Star Wars Into Darkness’ - Mashup

‘Star Wars Into Darkness’ - Mashup

Oh man, I want to watch that film!

This is likely only the first of many such mashups. In fact, once Star Trek Into Darkness is released, I expect there to be whole film adaptions and mashups, or at least short film length mashups.

Anyway, this perhaps can give you just an idea of what we’re in for — although there just are not enough lens flares present here to be a completely accurate representation of what Abrams will bring to Star Wars.

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Leads Box Office

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Leads Box Office
Entertainment Weekly

Almost a year after its originally scheduled March 2012 release, Paramount’s $50 million Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters topped the chart on its first Friday with $6.0 million from 3,372 theaters. The poorly reviewed film (a phrase that applies to all this weekend’s new releases) stars Gemma Arteron and Jeremy Renner, but the Avengers star has demonstrated little drawing power as a leading man so far. Hansel and Gretel may take in about $16 million worth of [gingerbread] dough over the full weekend frame.

While it’s still not likely to be a huge blockbuster, Box Office Mojo reports it…

What Happens to J.J. Trek?

What Happens to J.J. Trek?
Hero Complex

It’s a question that immediately sprang to the minds of fans of two franchises with Thursday’s news that J.J. Abrams will direct “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

What happens to “Star Trek”?

According to Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore, Abrams — who directed both 2009′s “Star Trek” and the upcoming sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness” — will still be involved in some capacity with a possible third “Trek” movie, at the minimum as a producer, if not also directing the film.

Moore also pointed out that Abrams will continue to play a role in another of the studio’s most valuable franchises,…

The Words — Review

2 of 5 stars
The Words

Rory Jansen (played by Bradley Cooper) is a writer who has it all: a loving wife (played by Zoe Saldana), critical acclaim by the bucket-loads, and a best-selling novel.

Problem is, he didn’t write it.

Now, in the aftermath of his success, the young author’s theft returns to haunt him. Secrets he thought were safe come to light. “There’s more than one way to take a life,” we’re told, and the truth of that statement hits Rory like a freight train. His sin has found him out.

An Underwhelming Acheivement

If you’re intrigued by this story, I don’t blame you. It intrigued me, too. The…

SAG Award Winners

SAG Award Winners

The general moviegoing audience pays a great deal of respect to the The Oscars and what it determines deserves adulation for a year’s films. I agree that the Academy is noteworthy, but it’s far from a perfect judgment. In fact, there are no perfect award ceremonies. Moviemakers that judge for The Oscars and others like them reflect a great deal of skewing biases. They are greatly subjective.

But, if you overview the top three (or so) award ceremonies together (the Oscars, SAGA, and the Golden Globes) then you have a better representation of films’ and their makers’ credibility. More…

John McClane In (Causing?) Traffic Trouble In Russia

John McClane In (Causing?) Traffic Trouble In Russia

Here he is, back in action. But this time, he’s bringing us the action from Russia! And he’s pulling his usual shenanigans, you know, stealing cars, running over stuff, causing chaos, all that good stuff. He wouldn’t be John McClane if he wasn’t causing, or in the middle of chaos I suppose.

A Good Day to Die Hard opens on Valentine’s Day.

Fox and NBC order Pilots from Bad Robot (J.J. Abrams)

Another day, another two pilots for J.J. Abrams.

Abrams’ Bad Robot Prods. and Warner Bros. TV picked up pilot orders from NBC and Fox on Friday. NBC greenlit “Believe,” penned by Alfonso Cuaron and Mark Friedman, who exec produce with Abrams and Burk. Project revolves around the relationship between a young girl with a gift and a man sprung from prison who is tasked with protecting her from evil elements.

The Fox order went to an action-packed buddy cop show, set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with human-like androids. It hails from “Fringe” showrunner J.H.…

‘Movie 43’ Is Not Good

‘Movie 43’ Is Not Good
Film.com

“Movie 43″ is a debacle of the highest order, featuring four total laughs and two decent sketches amongst its entire 85-minute runtime. Looking at the fractions of 4/85 and then factoring in the two decent bits sprinkled in during 15 total shorts, one could come to the conclusion that this was a tax write-off scheme. There’s simply no way they should have spent more than $30 bucks making this, it didn’t have any writing! Or jokes! Or acting! Watching it, you can’t help but channel Colonel Jessep from “A Few Good Men” a la “Please tell me there’s more, please tell me you haven’t pinned your…

The Onion: Humans Experiencing Actual Emotion Over J.J.
The Onion

“Evidence suggests that there are currently multiple people existing in the world who are compelled, for some reason, to think and even speak to others about this subject, as though it were some sort of biological imperative,” said NYU sociology professor Dr. Herbert Winslow, who went on to explain that several of these humans are even displaying visible signs of demonstrable emotions such as anger, joy, and disappointment over the Star Trek director’s involvement in the film series. “We can also safely assume that this very same subsection of humans is, at this moment, feeling a more…
