Honest Trailer: ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’

Honest Trailer: ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’

One of the worst things I’ve ever done with my life is watch the original Tranformers. That’s 144 minutes of my life complete wasted that I’ll never get back. I cannot begin to describe just how awful this film is. Therefore, I refuse to see anymore Tranformers films to this day. And I hate myself just a little bit for even considering that perhaps the next installment with Mark Wahlberg might be worth watching. Must. Resist. Must… not… be… swayed…

In any event, I have not seen the film in question, but it sure seems like most of thos Honest Trailer could apply even to the first film. I know…

Elsa now most popular baby name of 2014. No, really!

Elsa now most popular baby name of 2014. No, really!
Ryan Broderick — BuzzFeed

Forgive me for linking to a BuzzFeed article, but this is just… I mean it… words fail me.

According to the UK-based BabyCenter.com, after combing through a database of 555,000 baby names, Elsa has become one of the hottest new baby names for 2014.

...

BabyCenter has noticed jumps in the popularity of other Frozen-inspired names. Even Olaf…

I’m going to curl up in a ball and die now. I mean, I liked Frozen too, but really? REALLY?!? I like The Matrix, like, A LOT. But I’m not about to name my son Neo, or Morpheous, or Mouse; nor will I name my daughter Trinity or Switch. This is just…

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Is Set In 1983

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Is Set In 1983
Oliver Lyttelton — The Playlist

“X-Men: Days Of Future Past” did what it was intended to: thanks to the all-star cast and surprisingly strong reviews, the film was by far the biggest hit of the series, with the film closing on $700 million worldwide, elevating it far above its predecessors, and justifying Fox’s decision to spend more money on the picture than any other film except “Avatar.” As such, the already-announced plans for “X-Men: Apocalypse” are moving forward at speed, and writerSimon Kinberg has just spilled some beans on it.

I just have to stop the quote and talk about how good it is to see X-Men back, and…

‘Batman V Superman’ Photos Show Superman Statue

‘Batman V Superman’ Photos Show Superman Statue
ComicBookMovie.com

Filming for Batman v Superman: Days of Justice is still in its early days, but there have been a few interesting reveals to come from the set since production began last month. Beyond the LexCorp building, set photos last week revealed a mysterious and clearly unfinished Superman statue. According to Batman-News, the reported 15-foot tall structure is built in the Zack Snyder-directed film to celebrate Supes “saving the Earth” in Man of Steel. My source on set said that they held a big ceremony to unveil the big Superman statue,” explains the site. Batman v Superman takes place about two…

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ UK Trailer 2

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ UK Trailer 2

We’ve seen the humorous side of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy via every single trailer they’ve released so far, but this one shows us a bit more of the serious side. Sure there’s some humor in there because this is definitely going to be a film full of humor, but this is a lot more serious in tone than any previous trailer.

The film opens in six weeks so we can expect the Marvel machine to dial the PR up to eleven at this point. This more serious trailer is probably just the beginning of the final push of the campaign.

RUMORED Details on the ‘Star Wars VII’ Villains

RUMORED Details on the ‘Star Wars VII’ Villains
Germain Lussier — Film

This might be total BS. We’re going to be honest about that. But reading this new information was interesting and fun, and even if it may not be true, why deny you the same joy? Let the Star Wars speculation continue!

As you all know by now, we know nothing of the plot to Star Wars Episode VII. We know the original characters are back, thirty years have passed, and some younger actors play new characters. That’s it. We can safely assume there will be Jedi, but there’s no real pulse on the bad guys. You see, at the end of Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker defeated the Sith, returning…

Honest Trailer: ‘The Lion King’

Honest Trailer: ‘The Lion King’

I used to like The Lion King when I was a kid. But I have to say on subsequent rewatches as an adult, it’s not that great of a film. But it sure has some great music. And it’s not just plain terrible, so there’s that. And it was certainly the one of the last Disney films that was well animated for quite a long time. Thereafter, Disney started their plunge into that nasty, angular and ugly animation that I hate so much.

In any event, I loved this Honest Trailer for my beloved childhood film.

‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’ Certified Fresh

‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’ Certified Fresh
Tim Ryan — RottenTomatoes

When How to Train Your Dragon became a runaway critical and commercial hit, it helped to quiet the contention that DreamWorks was simply a second banana to Pixar. Happily, critics say the inevitable sequel lives up to the high standards set by its predecessor—it’s exuberant, ambitious, and visually striking.

Good to hear. I’m on vacation this week and had some traveling over the weekend so I haven’t had a chance to see it yet. I plan to see it with my kids (7, 5, and 3) later today.

It is unfortunate though that the box office is not looking good for this film at the moment. Or, at least,…

‘Paddington’ Trailer

‘Paddington’ Trailer

Somehow, I missed Paddington Bear. I don’t know what’s wrong with me or my upbrining or whatever. Maybe it’s normal, although from what I can tell he seems to be somewhat of a sensation. Whatever, I missed it and have never heard of this bear before the movie became a thing.

I can tell you this, if this trailer is any indication, there is not a serious bone in this franchise’s body. This trailer is nothing but cornball goofiness. That’s not to say it’s not entertaining though…

The film will hit theaters on December 25.

Sony Acquires ‘Captain Nemo’ Script

Sony Acquires ‘Captain Nemo’ Script
Germain Lussier — Film

While the odds of ever getting to see a David Fincher version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea are now slim to none, an alternate version of the tale has just been purchased. Sony Pictures has purchased a spec script called Captain Nemo, written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The pair are best known for co-creating the hit Superman show Smallville, but also worked on the scripts for films such as Spider-Man 2(the good one, from Sam Raimi), Shanghai Noon and I Am Number Four.

I’m interested in this, but the problem is that this is a beloved book from my childhood and making it in a way…
