How The Amazing Spiderman Should Have Ended

How The Amazing Spiderman Should Have Ended

A good friend at Carpe Seizure brought this hilarious video to my attention. It’s funny whether you’ve seen The Amazing Spiderman or not, and there aren’t any real spoilers in it (in my opinion) but it’s much funnier if you have seen the movie and enjoyed it. Watch:

If you haven’t already heard of HISHE, it is short for “How It Should Have Ended.” It’s a YouTube channel that represents some of the most amusing twists on Hollywood films.

Hey, speaking of Marel super heroes, if you write a comment on this entry about The Avengers, you’ll be entered to win a Blu-ray of the movie! If you…

Samuel Jackson Summer Flop Loses $12 Million

Samuel Jackson Summer Flop Loses $12 Million

Samuel Jackson and Tom Wilkinson should make for an entertaining movie, wouldn’t you agree? I thought so when I saw that Redbox has a new DVD release starring these two in a crime/action film.

The description of The Samaritan from Rotten Tomatoes:

After twenty‐five years in prison, Foley (Samuel L. Jackson) is finished with the grifter’s life. When he meets an elusive young woman named Iris (Ruth Negga), the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan (Luke Kirby), the son of his former partner, has an ingenious plan and he wants…

LEGO, Man of Steel, and more Secret Villains

LEGO, Man of Steel, and more Secret Villains

Man of Steel has been able to maintain secrecy surrounding the story line and what villains like General Zod will be up to. Just who Superman will face off appears to be General Zod (Supe’s nemesis in Superman II) but this week there has surfaced an unusual tip that another super villain may take a serious role in the film. LEGO, the toy brick company we all know and love, may have spilled the beans for another villain in Man of Steel.

Collider reports these LEGO sets are in the making for a release in 2013:

  • 76000 Arctic Batman vs. Mr.Freeze – Aquaman on Ice
  • 76001 Batman vs.…

The Stars Sing in Making of Les Misérables Video

The Stars Sing in Making of Les Misérables Video

“I thought it was an amazing opportunity to do something genuinely groundbreaking,” said director Tom Hooper. If this featurette is any indication, I believe the filmmaker hit the mark. It must have been incredibly daunting, but it would appear to excel greatly as the cast lived up to the demands of the production.

Les Misérables as Hooper would have it is heavenly based after the musical adaptation that’s been on tour for decades. It is the longest-standing broadway musical to date, and anyone that appreciates musicals that has seen it can tell you why. The story line is rich, the…

‘Les Misérables’ Trailer in Review

‘Les Misérables’ Trailer in Review

This upcoming tear-jerking musical adaptation of the classic is directed by Oscar winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) and scheduled for theatrical release on December 14th, 2012.

This story deserves to be revisited again and again, and this could be the right version to see again and again. With Les Misérables near release, I’m what you could call loosing my mind in anticipation. After the rapturous film that was The King’s Speech by Tom Hooper, no trailer needs to convince me to buy a ticket for opening night of Les Misérables. I’ll be there even if it kills me.

Besides…

Battleship — Review

1.5 of 5 stars
Battleship

The Battle for Earth Begins at Sea

If you didn’t get enough of the Transformers franchise from Michael Bay’s trilogy, and you simply cannot wait for the next installment, here is an appetizer. Battleship, by director Peter Berg, is one ginormous action flick for people that don’t mind absurdity and inauthenticity. If it’s strange alien lifeforms, super-sized battle sequences, and impulsive/irrational heroics you want, catch Cowboys and Aliens, I Am Number Four, or Battleship.

Storyline

Battleship is an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds at sea in the skies and over land as the…

‘Lincoln’ by Spielberg Releases an Official Trailer

‘Lincoln’ by Spielberg Releases an Official Trailer

I’m thinking the movie is going to be the sort of movie I have been anticipating. It will tell a story of Lincoln the way we want to be told he was — not necessarily how he actually was.

It’s very difficult to address historical figures. Someone like Lincoln is still relatable to Americans today. We see his image on our currency, and we hear stories of his kindness, honesty, and sincerity. We are glad to quickly overlook that this president made the country go to war with itself. Obviously it could not have been an easy choice (or his first choice), but it still gives me pause enough to…

Hangout with Steven Spielberg Announced for ‘Lincoln’

Hangout with Steven Spielberg Announced for ‘Lincoln’

Steven Speilberg’s been hard at work to bring to us another award-winning biopic. This time, what with Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, he is bound to create quite a buzz with the film and stir up age-old controversy and worship for the 16th president of these United States of America.

It’s practically impossible to imagine that Lincoln will not reflect a highly subjective viewpoint of Abe. Some will be very happy with the American spirit and glorification of their “patron saint of freedom.” While one would expect history buffs to be the target audience of Spielberg’s film, it’s…

New HBO Film Reveals Hitchcock’s Dark Side

New HBO Film Reveals Hitchcock’s Dark Side
Movieline

Many movie enthusiasts grew up on reruns of Alfred’s Alfred Hitchcock Presents television show. Call it ‘a twisted treat’ of mine that whenever I have need to take a few sick days off work I have a self-enforced Alfred Hitchcock Presents watching marathon. It’s one of the few programs that’s guaranteed to keep my mind off my dismal condition, and it helps that characters in his stories are going through worse problems.

Alfred Hitchcock was a remarkable filmmaker in his day, and for his craft he is one of my all-time favorite directors. Suspense is a tricky genre, and Alfred hit the mark…

John Williams’ Affair with Historical Movie Soundtracks

John Williams’ Affair with Historical Movie Soundtracks
Indie Wire: The Playlist

Yep, another Steven Spielberg movie means another John Williams score, and the upcoming Oscar contender “Lincoln” will mark their 26th collaboration (“Duel” and “The Color Purple” being the only films in Spielberg’s oeuvre the composer hasn’t scored). And with the marketing campaign beginning to build up since the first official look at Daniel Day-Lewis in the lead role earlier this month, with a poster yesterday, now comes the full tracklist to the movie, which may serve as some kind of mild spoiler about just what moments in the president’s life the movie will cover.

Based on the…
