Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

At the 3D Creative Summit in London, Pixar’s director of 3D production Josh Hollander revealed that the company is planning three-dimensional re-releases of basically all their popular movies. “Right now we’re working on ‘The Incredibles,’ which is a lot of fun in 3D. I’m not sure what the release strategy for it will be,” he said, adding: “We have a version of ‘Ratatouille,’ which works really well in 3D and we’re trying to figure out exactly what the release strategy for that will be.”

Oh good, because you know I was thinking just the other day, “wouldn’t it be great if some of my old…

The Marshmallows turned out in droves this weekend to check out the theatrical debut of Veronica Mars. The Kickstarter-funded, cult TV show adaptation opened to a cool $2 million from 291 theaters (265 in the U.S.), earning the pic a spot on the top 10 according, to initial estimates.

The industry has not gotten into a mode where they share VOD…

Avengers Tower Makes Cameo in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

Avengers Tower Makes Cameo in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’
Germain Lussier – /Film

When Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters April 4, be on the look out for Tony Stark’s Avengers Tower. As a hidden Easter Egg.

At the end of The Avengers, the Stark Tower was decimated, leaving only the “A” as a tease of what’s to come. There was also a brief scene where Stark is clearly seen working on an Avengers Tower. In Iron Man 3, Stark never visits New York as he’s plenty busy in California, Tennessee and Florida but that doesn’t mean the tower hasn’t been under construction. Speaking to /Film, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told us the completed tower makes a…

Lupita Nyong’o Up for Role in ‘Star Wars VII’
Germain Lussier – /Film

Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o has met with, and may sign on for, a key role in J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars Episode 7. The 12 Years A Slave star reportedly is “extremely close” to playing a role not related to the original trilogy. It may be a Sith or a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

When calling Nyong’os representatives for comment they said, “We’re not allowed to talk about that.” If there’s a “that,” that’s all we needed to know.

I’ll just leave this right here…

Voiceover artist Hal Douglas, whose gravelly baritone is likely recognized by movie fans for the thousands of trailers he narrated, has died, according to a report.

Douglas died due to complications of pancreatic cancer, his daughter Sarah told The New York Times, which added that Douglas died Friday at his home in Lovettsville, Va. He was 89.

Sad news. He’s one of the legends up there with Don LaFontaine. Check out his demo reel:

SyFy Wants Back Into… Well… SciFi

SyFy Wants Back Into… Well… SciFi
Darren — GateWorld

This has to be good news to any fan of Stargate or quality science fiction: Syfy Channel, the cable network that took a lot of heat for changing its name and effectively walking away from the genre a few years ago, wants to get back in the game.

The network wants to do fewer procedurals and B-movies and more traditional, scripted science fiction drama — be it regular series or high-profile mini-series events.

Hmm. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…

Look, SyFy has had some good shows over the years. Some really good shows. AND THEY’VE CANCELED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM… Read The Rest

Marvel Won’t Back Down on ‘Baman vs. Superman’ Conflicting Release Date

Marvel Won’t Back Down on ‘Baman vs. Superman’ Conflicting Release Date
Germain Lussier – /Film

On May 6, 2016, Marvel and DC are going head to head at the box office. In one corner is DC’s highly anticipated Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman. In the other corner, an untitled Marvel Phase Three film. Marvel planted their flag on the day in June 2013. Six months later, DC all but challenged them by bumping Zack Snyder’s film to the same date. Many believed Marvel, which have yet to reveal what film will be released that day, would move off the date, scared at competing against two of the biggest superheroes in the world. But, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige,…

Chris McKay to Direct ‘The LEGO Movie’ Sequel

Chris McKay to Direct ‘The LEGO Movie’ Sequel
Mike Fleming Jr — Deadline

Warner Bros has set Chris McKay to direct its sequel to The Lego Movie, the film that opened last month and has so far turned in a worldwide gross of $361 million. McKay was animation co-director on the first film that was made under the direction of Phil Lord & Chris Miller. That duo is producing, and Michelle Morgan & Jared Stern are writing a treatment for the next installment. They are still working all this out, but this will be straight sequel, even though the studio is contemplating a spinoff film that broadens the Lego empire by focusing on the character Ninjago.

I’m sure he’ll do…

Rooney Mara to Play Tiger Lily in ‘Pan’

Rooney Mara to Play Tiger Lily in ‘Pan’
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Well, let’s cue up the controversy machine. Tiger Lily, the Native American princess of Neverland, is going to be played by someone not of Native American descent (nor from Neverland). We’re being a bit cheeky, but we’re sure this news is going to raise a few culturally-concerned eyebrows.

Rooney Mara has nabbed the part of Tiger Lily in Joe Wright’s forthcoming “Pan.”

Yeah, that’s some real controversy right there.

Nontroversy.

Andy Swift — TVLine

A former Heroes star is now on the hunt for a superhero.

Adrian Pasdar will appear in at least one upcoming episode of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Glenn Talbot, a character famous for spending years trying to track down The Hulk, Marvel.com announced Wednesday.

Though Pasdar can’t reveal why Glenn will be appearing in the show, he says, “there had to be a little bit more in it than just an episode for me,” implying the character will likely recur.

Nathan Petrelli!

While he was never my favorite character on Heroes or anything, he seems like a fine actor so that’s cool.
